NITI Aayog Internship Scheme

The NITI Aayog Internship Scheme provides a unique opportunity for students and researchers to work with India's premier policy think tank. Interns get first-hand exposure to the functioning of government and policy formulation at the national level.

The internship is managed through the Work For India portal and accepts applications between the 1st and 10th of every month. Interns work directly with advisers and subject matter experts on cutting-edge policy issues including digital governance, health, education, and sustainable development.

• Indian nationals only
• Undergraduate students (completed at least 2 years) or postgraduate/PhD students
• Minimum CGPA of 6.5 (on a 10-point scale) or 60% marks
• Graduates with less than 2 years of work experience may also apply
• Should not have completed any previous internship at NITI Aayog

1. Visit the Work For India portal at workforindia.niti.gov.in
2. Register and create your profile between the 1st and 10th of any month
3. Fill in academic details, areas of interest, and upload documents
4. Write a Statement of Purpose (SOP) explaining your interest in policy research
5. Submit the application before the 10th of the month
6. If shortlisted, you will be notified via email within 2-3 weeks

Applications are screened based on academic record, SOP quality, and relevance of background to NITI Aayog's ongoing projects. Shortlisted candidates may be interviewed by the concerned vertical/division. Final selection is based on merit and availability of positions.
