SEB Gujarat HTAT Head Teacher Promotion Exam 2026 - Apply For 3,264 Posts

It is the Special Competitive Examination (Semi Direct), conducted by the State Examination Board, Gujarat, under Notification No. RPB/HTAT SCE/2026/9293-9300 dated 01-08-2026, for promotion of eligible serving Lower/Upper Primary Teachers to 3,264 Head Teacher (Class-III) posts across Gujarat.

Only serving Lower Primary Teachers or Upper Primary Teachers (Class-III) with at least 5 years in that cadre, who have passed the prescribed computer competency exam and hold the required educational qualification, are eligible. It is not open to outside or fresh candidates.

There are 3,264 Head Teacher (Class-III) posts in total - 3,125 under District Primary Education Committees and 138 under Municipal (Nagar) Primary Education Committees.

Online registration closes on 25-08-2026, and online fee payment is accepted until 27-08-2026.

The probable exam date given in the notification is 04-10-2026.

Candidates need a Bachelor's degree in Arts/Science/Commerce with a recognized teacher-training qualification (or a Bachelor's in Education), or a Higher Secondary pass with a 4-year Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education/Education, along with basic computer knowledge and knowledge of Gujarati or Hindi.

Rs. 350 for General category candidates and Rs. 250 for SC/ST candidates, payable online only. The fee is non-refundable.
