IIT Kanpur Non Teaching Recruitment 2026 - Apply Online for 80 Junior Assistant, Assistant Executive Engineer and More Posts

A total of 80 vacancies have been announced across 12 post categories — Superintending Engineer, Deputy Registrar, Executive Engineer, Assistant Executive Engineer, Assistant Registrar, Assistant Counsellor, Hall Management Officer, Medical Officer, Junior Superintendent, Junior Technical Superintendent, Junior Assistant, and Junior Technician — spread across Group A (Pay Level 10 and above), Group B (Pay Level 6), and Group C (Pay Level 3). Several of these are backlog vacancies (*) reserved for specific categories.

The last date for submission of online applications is 03-07-2026 (11:59 PM). Candidates are advised to apply well before the closing date to avoid the risk of network congestion. The age, qualification, and experience eligibility will also be reckoned as on this closing date. Applications must be submitted only through the IIT Kanpur recruitment portal (https://www.iitk.ac.in/recruitment).

For Group A posts (Sl. No. 1–8): Rs. 1,500/- for General/OBC/EWS male candidates; Rs. 750/- for SC/ST/PwD and all female candidates. For Group B & C posts (Sl. No. 9–12): Rs. 1,000/- for General/OBC/EWS male candidates; Rs. 500/- for SC/ST/PwD and all female candidates. Fees must be paid online and are non-refundable. Separate fees are required for each post applied for; online bank/transaction charges + GST (if any) are additional.

The age limit varies by group: Group A (Level 10 and above) — up to 45 years; Group B (Level 6) — up to 35 years; Group C (Level 3) — up to 30 years. Age relaxations: SC/ST +5 years; OBC (NCL) +3 years; PwD +10 years (subject to maximum 56 years); Ex-Servicemen +3 years + service period. Regular IIT Kanpur employees may apply up to 50 years for Group B & C and 55 years for Group A. Age is reckoned as on the closing date 03-07-2026.

The selection process differs by post group. Group A posts (except Medical Officer): Written Test + Seminar/Presentation before an expert panel + Personal Interview. Medical Officer (Sl. No. 8): Interview only (no written test). Group B & C posts: Written Test + Skill Test / Job-Oriented Practical Test (JOPT). All assessments are conducted in the English language only. The Institute reserves the right to decide the mode of screening and may shortlist candidates based on higher parameters. No TA/DA is paid for written/skill tests; TA is reimbursable for Group A candidates called for interview.

Pay scales as per 7th CPC: Superintending Engineer — Level-13 (Rs. 1,23,100–2,15,900); Deputy Registrar — Level-12 (Rs. 78,800–2,09,200); Executive Engineer — Level-11 (Rs. 67,700–2,08,700); Assistant Executive Engineer, Assistant Registrar, Assistant Counsellor, Hall Management Officer, Medical Officer — Level-10 (Rs. 56,100–1,77,500); Junior Superintendent and Junior Technical Superintendent — Level-6 (Rs. 35,400–1,12,400); Junior Assistant and Junior Technician — Level-3 (Rs. 21,700–69,100). In addition, Transport Allowance, Dearness Allowance, HRA, NPS Employer's Contribution, Medical, LTC, and Children's Education Allowance are admissible as per GOI rules.

Yes, candidates can apply for more than one post, but must submit a separate online application and pay a separate fee for each post. In case of multiple applications for the same single post, only the last application with the registration number will be considered; earlier applications for the same post will be rejected and the respective fees forfeited. Each post has its own eligibility criteria, so candidates must verify they meet the requirements for every post they apply for.

For Junior Assistant (Sl. No. 11): The essential qualification is a Bachelor's Degree with knowledge of computer applications. No minimum experience is mandatory in the essential criteria; however, a minimum 2 years of relevant administrative experience is desirable. For Junior Technician (Sl. No. 12): The essential qualification is a Bachelor's Degree / B.Sc. / 3-year Diploma in the relevant discipline. Post-qualification hands-on relevant experience (2 years for B.E./B.Tech. holders; 3 years for B.Sc./Diploma holders) is desirable but not mandatory. Only full-time, post-qualification experience is considered.
