The Tier-I Tablet Based Test (TBT) consists of 150 questions (150 marks) in 120 minutes: General Intelligence & Reasoning (25Q/25M), Numerical Aptitude (25Q/25M), English Language (50Q/50M), and General Awareness (50Q/50M). Each question carries 1 mark; 0.25 marks are deducted for each wrong answer. VH/Cerebral Palsy candidates get 40 additional minutes (total 160 minutes). What is the age limit for A&N Administration Matric Level Exam 2026?
The age limit is 18 to 33 years for Male and 18 to 38 years for Female candidates (Group C posts) as on the closing date 28-06-2026. Age relaxation is applicable: ST candidates get 5 years; OBC (NCL) candidates get 3 years; PwBD (UR) gets 10 years; Ex-Servicemen get 3 years after deduction of military service. Central Government civilian employees with minimum 3 years regular continuous service can apply up to 40 years (45 years for ST). Candidates claiming relaxation fraudulently will be permanently debarred.
Can OBC candidates from mainland India apply for A&N Administration Matric Level Exam 2026 under OBC reservation?
No. OBC reservation in A&N Administration is available exclusively to Local OBC (Non-Creamy Layer) candidates covered under the specific Gazette Notifications (No.343/205/F.No.8-3/2003-TW dated 16th December 2005 and No. 752006/F.No.8-3/2003-TW dated 19th April 2006). OBC candidates from outside A&N Islands will be considered only against Unreserved (UR) vacancies. Similarly, only OBC-NCL certificates not older than 2 years from the closing date are valid for claiming OBC reservation.

Is there negative marking in A&N Administration Matric Level Exam 2026?
Yes, there is negative marking. For each wrong answer, 0.25 marks (one-fourth of the mark) will be deducted. Each question carries 1 mark, so attempting a question incorrectly results in a net loss of 0.25 marks. There is no deduction for unattempted questions. Candidates are strongly advised to keep this in mind while answering - avoid random guessing. There is also no provision for re-evaluation or re-checking of answer sheets/scripts.
What is the Tier-II examination in A&N Administration Combined Matric Level Exam 2026?
Tier-II consists of Physical Standard Examination / Physical Measurement and Endurance Test / Skill / Trade Test, wherever prescribed as essential qualification for the specific post (as per Annexure-I of the notification). It is conducted by the concerned department for candidates who qualify in Tier-I TBT. Importantly, the Tier-II test is only of qualifying nature - it does not contribute to the final merit score. Final selection is based solely on Tier-I TBT marks, subject to qualifying the Tier-II test where applicable.
Can candidates from outside Andaman & Nicobar Islands apply for A&N Administration Matric Level Exam 2026?
Yes, any eligible Indian National can apply. However, candidates from outside A&N Islands applying under ST or OBC reservation will not get the benefit of these reservations - they will be treated as Unreserved (UR) category candidates. Only Local Scheduled Tribe candidates of A&N Islands (as per Scheduled Tribe Order 1959) and Local OBC (NCL) candidates (as per specified A&N Gazette Notifications) are eligible for reserved quota benefits.
