Reliance Defence Ltd, a subsidiary of Reliance Infrastructure Ltd, will set up the Dhirubhai Ambani Centre for Innovation and Research in Aerospace in Bengaluru.
An announcement in this regard was made by the Reliance Anil Dhirubhai Ambani Group (Reliance ADAG) chairman Anil Ambani on 3 February 2016 at the Invest Karnataka 2016 summit in Bengaluru.
The centre, the first-ever of its kind in the private sector in India, will be a world class facility for research, development and innovation in aerospace technology. It will generate more than 1500 highly skilled jobs.
The centre will be a knowledge-driven technology venture and will function as a global centre of aerospace excellence.
The setting up of the centre is also in tune with the government’s Indigenous Design, Development and Manufacturing (IDDM) for Defence equipment and Make in India and Skill India initiatives.
