The International Fleet Review (IFR) 2016, an international military exercise hosted and conducted by Indian Navy was inaugurated in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh.
The prestigious International Fleet Review (IFR) 2016, which is being organized by the Indian Navy has started off in style in Vishakhapatnam of Andhra Pradesh on Thursday evening. The official theme of the IFR 2016 is “United Through Oceans”. This is the second time an IFR is being held in India, while the first was conducted in January 2001 at Mumbai.
This four-day gala celebrating naval prowess and military extravaganza will be held from 4 to 8 February 2016 in Visakhapatnam. Ninety ships including from the US, French, British and Chinese navies are taking part in the Review in the Bay of Bengal.
Defence Minister Manohar Parikar, Andhra Pradesh Governor ESL Narasimhan, AP Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu, other few Union Cabinet Ministers, all Chiefs of Armed Forces and a host of National and International delegates were present at the fleet review.
President Pranab Mukherjee will attend the event on February 6. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will address the gathering on February 7, Sunday and also release a book on India’s maritime heritage.
