Various Modes to Get Lost Aadhar Card

Aadhar Card’s importance has increased day by day and has become the essential proof of identity in number of places. It is useful also for availing government subsidies. With the increased importance, the loss of Aadhar Card makes the cardholders to panic. But there is nothing to worry as there are number of ways to retrieve the Aadhar Card. A resident can retrieve the lost Aadhar Card through three ways as listed below.

How to Retrieve Lost Aadhar Card through Online Method?

UIDAI has assisted the residents with the easier method of retrieving their Aadhar number when he/she has lost both the Aadhar Card and the acknowledgement slip. This can be done in the UIDAI official website. This online mode is a two step procedure where the primary step is to find the Enrolment ID or the UID and the next step is to download the e-Aadhar. Follow the below steps to know the method of retrieving the lost Aadhar Card. 

Procedure to Find Enrolment ID or the UID :

The below steps are to be followed to retrieve the Enrolment ID or the UID.

  • Visit the UIDAI website.

  • In the several Aadhar online services which are displayed, choose “Retrieve Lost UID/EID” in Aadhar Enrolment menu.

  • Choose the “Retrieve EID/UID” option in the left side of the page.

  • Enter the full name, registered email id, and registered mobile number.

  • Type security code and press “Send OTP” button.

  • The applicant will receive the OTP code either in his/her registered mobile number or email id.

  • Type the received OTP code in the “Enter OTP” blank space in the right side of the webpage.

  • Click “Verify OTP” button.

  • Once the verification of OTP is done, the Enrolment ID or the UID will be sent to the applicant’s email or registered mobile number.

Procedure to Download the e-Aadhar:

Once the resident completes the first step of finding either the Enrolment ID or the UID, the resident should follow the second step of downloading the lost Aadhar. One should follow the below step to download the e-Aadhar.

  • Visit the UIDAI official website.

  • Choose the option “Download Aadhar” from the Aadhar enrolment menu which is displayed on the page.

  • Choose “I have Enrolment ID” or “UID”

  • This proceeds  to the e-Aadhar page, where the applicant has to give the Enrolment ID, full name, pincode, captcha image in the respective blank spaces.

  • Press “Get One Time Password” button.

  • The OTP would be received in the applicant’s registered mobile number. If the OTP is not received or the time validity of the OTP is expired, press “Resend One Time Password” button.

  • After receiving the OTP, enter it in the OTP space given and choose “Validate and Download” button.

  • The e-Aadhar will be downloaded in PDF format in the applicant’s computer.

How to Retrieve Lost Aadhar Card through Offline Method?

The resident need not panic if he/she lost the Aadhar and who do not have the knowledge of using Aadhar online services. The resident can visit the nearest Enrolment Centre, where the appointed executives will guide the residents in retrieving their lost Aadhar. The residents may be asked for their biometric information for verification if required. Executives at the Aadhar enrollment centres would help you to get back your important identity proof easily. You should surely retrieve your Aadhar as it is of great importance nowadays. It is used for all the services being rendered in present situation. How to Retrieve your Aadhar Card through mAadhar app?

There is another special feature provided by the UIDAI. UIDAI has set up a special application for helping the residents to access their Aadhar in their smartphones. The digital Aadhar is visible in the mAadhar if the resident has already created a profile in the mAadhar app. The resident can use this already created profile if the original Aadhar card is lost. He/she can view all their Aadhar details in their smartphone. The digital Aadhar available in their smartphones can be used in places of the original Aadhar.

What are the Requirements to Retrieve Lost Aadhar Card?

To retrieve the lost Aadhar Card, one must have either their Enrolment ID or the UID. If they do not have both, then the resident must have their registered mobile number or their email id registered with the UIDAI. If the the mobile number or the email id is not registered with the UIDAI, then the resident should first register it and then proceed with the retrieval of the lost Aadhar. More Information on Duplicate Aadhar Card

Aadhar is downloaded in the user’s computer and it will be displayed in  PDF format. The downloaded Aadhar is protected with a password. The password to open the e-Aadhar is the first four letters (capital letters) of the applicant’s name and year of birth. The downloaded Aadhar can be printed for all verification and identification purposes.
The downloaded Aadhar Card is equivalent to the original Aadhar Card. All the details in the original Aadhar Card are present in the duplicate Aadhar Card also. Duplicate Aadhar is very important as it can be used at all places where the original Aadhar Card is required.
