John T Chambers, the Executive Chairman of Cisco, was on 21 September 2015 elected as the next Chairman of US-India Business Council’s (USIBC) by the Council’s Board of Directors.
Chambers name was officially announced at the USIBC’s 40th Anniversary Leadership Summit that kicked off the US-India Strategic and Commercial Dialogue.
He succeeded Ajay Banga, the President and CEO of MasterCard, who has been the longest-serving chairman of the Council.
Chambers will assume the charge on 1 January 2016 following the end of four-year term of Banga on 31 December 2015.
US-India Business Council (USIBC)
The US-India Business Council (USIBC) is the premier business advocacy organization dedicated to strengthening the economic and commercial relationship between the United States and India.
It was established in 1975 at the request of both the United States and Indian governments; the Council is the largest bilateral trade association in the United States with liaison presence in New York, Silicon Valley, and New Delhi.
The Council’s mission is to promote bilateral trade relations between India and the United States through pro-growth policies that will advance commercial partnerships from 100 billion US dollars to 500 billion US dollars by the end of the decade.
