Gujarat-based Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone (APSEZ) and India Pulses and Grains Association (IPGA) on 19 October 2015 signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to handle pulses across its ports to ensure smooth and cost efficient availability of the commodity across the nation.

The MoU is intended to develop a dedicated and efficient supply chain for pulses, using Adani Ports’ facilities to all key consumption centers in the country. This will help ensure smooth and cost efficient availability of pulses.

According to port sources, Adani has developed the world class facilities for an agricultural market place at its all ports. It has largest dedicated covered warehouse space inside ports for Agri goods.

Besides, the company has also tied up with partner agencies to provide collateral management and trade fiancé services at the port itself.

At present, India imports nearly five million tonnes of pulses annually for domestic consumption, mainly from Canada, Australia and regions around the Black Sea.

India Pulses and Grains Association (IPGA), is the apex organisation of the import and export trader of pulses and grains in the country. It acts as a decisive facilitator for the pulses trade in India on behalf of the 400 members and pivotal associations who represent a cross section of over 10000 stakeholders in the supply chain.
