Seven Indian states celebrated the State formation day

On 1 November 2019, Seven Indian states, namely Chhattisgarh, Punjab, Rajasthan, Haryana, Karnataka, Kerala, and Madhya Pradesh and 1 Union Territory Puducherry, celebrated the State/UT Formation day.

State Formation day:

Seven Indian states, namely Chhattisgarh, Punjab, Rajasthan, Haryana, Karnataka, Kerala, and Madhya Pradesh and 1 Union Territory Puducherry, celebrated the State/UT Formation day on 1 November. The states were formed on the same day in different years. There are 28 states and 9 Union territories in India. 


Kannada Rajyotsava:

The Karnataka state was formed on 1 November 1956. In the 1950s, people demanded states and provinces based on a linguistic basis. Hence, Kannada speaking part of the province was named a state called Mysore. Mysore was not accepted by the people, and it was renamed as Karnataka.

Rajasthan:

Rajasthan was formed on 1 November 1956 under State Re-organisation Act 1956. The former part of Ajmer, Abu Road, Taluka, the former part of princely State, Sirohi, was amalgamated in the former Bombay, and Sunel Tappa area of the former Madhya Bharat was joined with Rajasthan. The subdistrict Sironj, Jhalawar, was relocated to Madhya Pradesh.

Madhya Pradesh:

Madhya Pradesh celebrates its Formation Day on 1 November 1956. It is the second-largest state in India in terms of area.

Kerala Piravi:

The State Kerala was formed on 1 November 1956. It observes 1 November as Kerala Piravi Dinam in the State. In 1947, Kerala was stretched in three independent provinces, namely Cochin, Malabar, and Travancore. These three major parts were joined together to form the State of Kerala.

Chhattisgarh:

The State of Chhattisgarh was separated from  Madhya Pradesh on 1 November 2000. The State was partitioned by separating ten Chhattisgarhi and six Gondi speaking southeastern districts of Madhya Pradesh. Chhattisgarh state is the fastest-developing State in India.

Haryana:

Haryana celebrated the State Formation Day on 1 November 1966. It was separated from the former State of East Punjab. It was separated on a cultural and linguistic basis. Haryana's Gurgaon, now known as Gurugram, is an important business hub.

Punjab:

Punjab celebrates its Formation Day on 1 November 1966. In 1947, after the partition of India, the Punjab province of British India was divided between India and Pakistan. Chandigarh is the capital for both Punjab and Haryana. Punjab is the only State in India with a majority Sikh population.

Puducherry:

The Union Territory Puducherry was formed on 1 November 1954. It is one of the nine union territories of India. It was formed out of four territories of former French India, namely Pondichéry, Karikal, Mahe, and Yanaon, excluding Chandernagore.
