Laverne “Laverne” Cox is an American actress, philanthropist, and advocate for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer (LGBT) people. You may have seen her on television in “Orange Is The New Black” as Sophia Burset, and she was the first transgender person nominated for a Primetime Emmy Award in 2015.

She went on to win another award, “The Daytime Emmy Award,” for making a special television series called “Laverne’s The T Word.” In 2017, she became the first transgender woman to be cast in a regular television series on a major network like CBS, entitled “Doubt,” in which she played the role of Cameron Wirth.

She has also appeared on VH1’s “I Want To Work for Diddy” and a TV series called “TRANSform Me,” which she helped create.
