Super Mario RPG
"Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars" is a really cool game that came out in 1996 for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System (SNES). In this game, Mario and his friends, like Princess Peach and Bowser, team up to take on the bad guys called the Smithy Gang. These troublemakers messed up the world by scattering seven star pieces of Star Road, and it's up to Mario and his pals to fix things.
What's unique about this game is that it's the first Mario game where you play a role-playing game (RPG), kind of like those games from Square, such as Final Fantasy. When you fight enemies in the game, you take turns with your team, and the game lets you explore a 3D world, which was pretty new for Mario games at the time.
People loved "Super Mario RPG" because it's not only fun but also funny. The game's graphics are awesome, and it became so popular that it inspired other RPG games by Nintendo, like Paper Mario and Mario & Luigi. It even made a comeback on different game consoles over the years, like the Wii and Wii U. In 2023, there was a special remake of "Super Mario RPG" for the Nintendo Switch, and everyone loved playing it all over again!

Super Mario RPG Gameplay
Super Mario RPG's gameplay is like a mix of traditional role-playing games (RPGs) and the classic Super Mario Bros. platform games. The game is divided into two main parts: exploring the game world and engaging in turn-based battles. When you're not in a battle, the gameplay feels like an isometric 3D platformer, where you move Mario around and interact with the environment, like hitting question blocks. Unlike many RPGs, there are no surprise battles ,you can see enemies on the screen, and a battle only happens if you touch one, letting you avoid unnecessary fights.
In battles, you start with Mario and eventually build a party of up to five characters. During battles, you control three characters, swapping them in and out as you explore. Each character has unique abilities; for example, Princess Toadstool can heal, while Geno and Bowser have powerful attacks. The combat follows a turn-based system, where you choose actions like attacking or using items. What makes it interesting is the addition of action commands – timed button presses during attacks or special moves, adding a skill element to the battles. This gameplay style, including action commands, became a key feature in later Mario RPG games.

Super Mario RPG Plot
Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars has an exciting story. It all begins when Mario sets out to rescue Princess Toadstool from the clutches of King Bowser at his castle. However, during their battle, a giant living sword named Exor falls from the sky, breaking the Star Road ,a special path that grants wishes. This event sends Mario, Princess Toadstool, and Bowser flying in different directions and scatters seven star fragments.
Mario, back at his pad, meets Toad, who tells him he needs to rescue Princess Toadstool. When Mario returns to Bowser's castle, he finds the bridge destroyed by Exor. Undeterred, Mario heads to the Mushroom Kingdom, where he meets Mallow, a "tadpole" who wants to get back a frog coin stolen by the local thief Croco. Together, they discover that the Smithy Gang, led by the evil robotic blacksmith king Smithy, has taken over the Mushroom Kingdom. Mario and Mallow team up to defeat gang boss Mack, find a mysterious Star Piece, and learn about Mallow's true identity.
As the adventure unfolds, Mario, Mallow, and their new ally Geno embark on a quest to collect the seven Star Pieces. Along the way, they encounter various characters, face challenges, and battle enemies, all to repair the shattered Star Road and thwart Smithy's evil plans. The journey takes them to different places like Booster Tower, Nimbus Land, and Barrel Volcano. Ultimately, Mario and his friends confront Smithy in Bowser's castle, putting an end to his army and restoring peace to the Mushroom Kingdom. The collected Star Pieces are then used to fix the Star Road, bringing joy and celebration to Mario and his friends.
