Qualification Details:

1. Position: Program Manager – Mahatma Gandhi National Fellowship

2. Summary: As part of the SANKALP initiative under the helm of the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE), a cluster of 9 IIMs is to be the academic and implementation partner for the Mahatma Gandhi National Fellowship. The fellowship in its phase II (2021-23) is committed to deploy 600 bright young fellows, across as many districts of the country with the district skill council.

3. IIMU aims to build a cadre of highly competent and committed young professionals as resources for driving skill development and livelihood generation across the country in all districts of the states of Rajasthan and Telangana (approximately 60 fellows, i.e. 1/10th of the total strength). IIMU aligns to the core value of the fellowship, to provide an enabling environment and immersive experience for the fellows to make transformative impact.IIM Udaipur seeks to fill the position of the Program Manager to lead the acedeminc, administrative and operational responsibilities of the Fellowship.

4. The roles of the Program Manager include

a. Overall administrative responsibility for all academic and operational activities

b. Developing key reports, including financial reporting, and manage fellowship learning milestones

c. Developing protocols to ensure smooth functioning of the academic and immersion modules of the fellowship to ensure an integrated delivery

d. Manage and monitor/influence a distributed team comprising of 2 state coordinators, faculty and mentors and oversee fieldwork of the fellows (where appropriate)

e.  Maintain routine engagement with key stakeholders – ministry, fellows, district cells, faculty, fellowship coordinators and mentors

f.  Build an ecosystem understanding of the skilling space, especially the functions of the administration to be able to steer the direction of the work of the fellows (with support from experts)

g.Support in key publications from time to time, in collaboration with required stakeholders to share the findings and insights from this skilling and livelihood intervention

5. Key skills / abilities/ knowledge required

a. Demonstrated experience working on policy and programmatic issues with multiple stakeholders including governments, academia and civil society organizations including community organizations

b.  High proficiency in English and Hindi (knowledge of Telugu will be an added advantage)

c. Strong interpersonal skills and self-motivated

d. Prior experience in field as well as academic research and publication will be desirable

e. Familiarity with financial accounting and report writing

f. Attention to detail, planning, and task-orientation

6. Educational qualification & experience: Candidate should have a sound record from a reputed academic institution. Approximately 6 years of working experience in project management, preferably with a reputed national/international organization in social development, vocational training or livelihood development. Candidates without a post-graduate but with at least 8 years of relevant work experience may be considered.

7. Compensation: Contractual payment of INR 75,000 to 90,000/per month (2 year contract – remuneration subject to prior experience and qualification)

General Instructions

1. The completion of the period of contract will not confer any right for further extension, regularization, permanency at the Institute. The candidates applying for the above post should ensure that they fulfil all the eligibility conditions for the post. Their admission to any stage of the selection process will be purely provisional subject to confirmation that they satisfy the prescribed eligibility conditions. Mere issue of interview call letter to the candidate will not imply that his/her candidature has been found eligible.

2. The prescribed qualifications are minimum and unless specified, they are required for consideration for the post, even if higher qualification has been acquired and the mere fact that a candidate possesses the same will not entitle him/her for being called for interview. Relevant experience gained after the minimum qualifying degree will only be taken into consideration. Minimum requirements of qualifications and/or experience can be relaxed in respect of exceptionally outstanding candidates.

3. The Institute reserves the right to restrict the number of candidates for written / skill test / interview to a reasonable limit based on qualifications, level and relevance of experience higher than the minimum prescribed in the advertisement and other academic achievements. The Institute also reserves the right of rejecting any or all the applications without assigning any reasons, therefore. Calling a candidate for test/interview merely indicates that it is felt that he/she with others may be suitable for the post and conveys no assurance whatsoever that he/she will be recommended or selected, or his/her conditions specified in the application will be accepted.

4. Candidates will be short-listed for Test/Interview based on the information provided by them in their online applications. They must ensure that such information is true. If at any subsequent stage or at the time of Test/Interview any information given by them or any claim made by them in their online applications is found to be false, their candidature will be liable to be rejected.

5. The Institute shall verify the antecedents or documents submitted by a candidate at any time at the time of appointment or during the tenure of the service. In case, it is detected that the documents submitted by the candidates are fake or the candidate has clandestine antecedents/background and has suppressed the said information, then his services shall be liable to be terminated.

6. In case of any inadvertent mistake in the process of selection which may be detected at any stage even after the issue of appointment letter, the Institute reserves the right to modify/ withdraw/ cancel any communication made to the candidates.

7.  Candidates may send testimonials from persons intimately acquainted with their work and character. If the applicant is in employment, he/she should submit testimonials from the most recent employer or immediate superior as a referee.

8. The Institute solely reserves the right not to fill any advertised position without assigning any reason. No correspondence whatsoever will be entertained from candidates regarding conduct and result of test/interview and reasons for not being called for interview. Canvassing in any form will be a disqualification.

9.  The crucial date for determining the eligibility criteria for all candidates in every respect shall be the prescribed closing date for submission of online application. The Institute strives to have a workforce which reflects gender balance and women candidates are encouraged to apply. Women candidates on a career break and wish to re-start their careers are encouraged to apply.
