Responsibilities

Work on the core of Azure, building and securing the foundation of the cloud itself. Provide hands-on technical leadership: architecture, design, code reviews, development, quality assurance, observability, and live site. Mentor engineers in the team by providing hands-on assistance, best practices, and promoting an inclusive learning environment.  Build on our Microsoft principles (create clarity, generate energy, deliver success) and values (respect, integrity, accountability) to effectively collaborate and make things happen. Influence and execute on a technical strategy for delivering azure services whose core functionality is essentially running truly a cloud. Collaborate effectively across different time zones. Help recruit and build a strong engineering team.  Develop the full stack, from intuitive and responsive user and developer experiences, to highly scalable, secure, and reliable webservices and back-end infrastructure.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of experience as a software engineer and 2+ years of experience with people management.
• Experience shipping distributed systems, services, and highly available infrastructure. 
• Experience with one or more general purpose programming languages including but not limited to: Java, C/C++, C#.

Preferred Qualifications: 

• Experience successfully defining and executing cross discipline and organization wide initiatives.
• Experience with building services and web platforms that are highly reliable, run at high scale, and recover automatically from failure.
• Practical experience with containers, PaaS/SaaS software engineering, distributed systems engineering
