New Updates: NIT Puducherry Admission 2021 - The Puducherry National Institute of Technology is a stand-alone public engineering institute located directly in the Puducherry Union Territory, Karaikal. It is one of India's 31 National Institutes of Technology and will be declared by the Government of India under the NIT Act, 2007, as an Institute of National Importance. National Institute of Technology (NIT), founded by Puducherry in 2010, under recognition from the Commission on University Grants (UGC). NIT Puducherry Admission 2021 will release Application at Official website. Admission to NIT Puducherry 2021 offers various UG, PG and Ph.D. level programs in the fields of Engineering, Science and Humanities. NIT provides students with undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctorate degree programs. NIT Puducherry Admission 2021 - National Institute of Technology, Puducherry is a stand-alone public engineering Institute situated directly in the union territory of Puducherry, Karaikal. It is one of the 31 National institutes of Technology of India and has been declared as an Institute of National Importance by Government of India. NIT Puducherry founding in 2010, under the recognition from the University Grants Commission(UGC). What are the Details of NIT Puducherry Admission 2021?

B. Tech:

NIT offers a full-time B.Tech program for a duration of 4 years. The program is offered in 4 specializations, i.e.

Computer Science & Engineering
Electronics & Communication Engineering
Electrical & Electronics Engineering
Mechanical Engineering

Eligibility Criteria:

Joint Entrance Examination (Main)

Admission to Undergraduate Engineering Program for the candidates from India at NITs, IIITs, and other Centrally Funded Technical Institutions (CFTI) shall include the performance in the class 12/other Qualifying Examination and in the Joint Entrance Examination, JEE (Main).

Central Seat Allocation Board (CSAB)

A Central Seat Allocation Board (CSAB) constituted by the Govt. of India coordinates admissions for the candidates from India to UG degree programmes in engineering, technology and architecture based on the All India Rank obtained through class 12/other Qualifying Examination and Joint Entrance Examination, JEE (Main). CSAB 2013 is constituted in order to facilitate the seat allocation to students. The merit list (All India Rank) for admission to NITs and other CFTIs will be prepared by CBSE by giving 40% weightage (suitably normalized) to class XII (or equivalent examination) and 60% to the performance in JEE (Main) Examination.

Admissions Under DASA Scheme

Admissions are open for Foreign Nationals / Persons of Indian Origin (PIOs) / Non-Resident Indians (NRIs) under Direct Admission of Students Abroad (DASA) Scheme to National Institutes of Technology (NITs), IIITs, and other premier Technical Institutions.

Selection Process:

For admission to B.Tech program, candidates will be shortlisted on the basis of score in JEE Main. Admission to shortlisted candidates will be given on the basis of JoSAA counselling. Moreover, seats will also be granted on the basis of CSAB to the JEE Main qualified candidates. Admissions to Foreign Nationals / Persons of Indian Origin (PIOs) / Non-Resident Indians (NRIs) will be granted under DASA Scheme. B.Tech. candidates who have applied through JEE aren’t allowed to choose a particular institute as the study center. However, they can choose their preferred institutes and courses at the time of registration. It is mandatory for all selected candidates to attend counselling (allotment of seats).

Key points for B.Tech admission:

No preference is given to 10+2 marks in calculating the ranks in JEE Main.
The application fee for JEE Main is INR 1000 for male candidates and INR 500 for female candidates.
Payment of fees can be made via credit/debit card or e-challan. Alternately, it can be paid via demand draft or cash deposit in designated banks.
50% of the total seats available for admission are reserved for candidates belonging to the Home-State, i.e., Puducherry, Karaikal, Mahe, Yanam, and Andaman Nicobar.

For M.Tech:

The institute offers an M.Tech course in Computer Science and Engineering. The program is offered in full time mode for a duration of 2 years.

Selection Criteria:

Candidates who haven’t opted for CCMT can apply directly by filling the application form online at the institute website. Payment of the prescribed application fee can be made through online mode. No offline mode of application or fee payment is allowed.

Key points:

M.Sc. graduates with specialization in Computer Science and MCA graduates can also apply, provided they have secured a minimum of 55% marks in the last qualifying exam.
Seats are reserved for candidates applying through CCMT.

For Ph. D:

NIT Puducherry currently offers Ph.D. programs to all eligible candidates in 9 departments. The basic eligibility criteria for admission is a Master’s degree in the relevant discipline. The selection of candidates for Ph.D. programs is subject to a written exam and interview. It is however mandatory for the candidate to qualify GATE / NET (LS or JRF) before applying for Ph.D.

Key Points:

Both part-time and full-time programs are available.
Common written test applicable for both full-time and part-time candidates.
Research fellowships are available to full-time research scholars who are not receiving any financial support/scholarship from other Agencies or State or Central Governments.

How to Apply for NIT Puducherry Admission 2021?

B.Tech

B.Tech aspirants cannot apply directly through institute’s website. It is mandatory for all UG candidates to appear for JEE Main and Advanced to be considered eligible for application/registration. They can apply for both on their respective official websites.

M.Tech & Ph.D.

Candidates applying for any of the M.Tech and Ph.D. programs offered by NIT Puducherry must apply through the online application portal available on its official website. M.Tech candidates can also apply through CCMT (a centralized counselling process for M.Tech applicants). Copies of all requisite documents are to be submitted along with a most recent colored passport size photograph. A non-refundable application fee of INR 1000 (INR 500 for SC/ST/PH) has to be paid through SBI Collect.

The candidates are required to send the following documents (photocopies with the application form and original at the time of interview) for verification purpose:

Character Certificate issued by the Head of the Institution/Department last attended.
