NID B.Des Eligibility Criteria
The Bachelor of Design program at NID is of 4 years and conducted at the Ahmedabad campus. The number of seats for the B.Des program, including the reserved seats, mention below the table. The NID DAT 2022 eligibility criteria mention age limit, educational qualifications, and the qualifying exams that are accepted by NID. Applicants must fulfill that fulfill the eligibility before applying for NID DAT 2022 Exam.
Age limit
Students up to 20 years on or before June 30, 2022, are qualified to apply for NID DAT 2022. And there is a relaxation of three years for those belonging to the reserved categories.
Qualifying Exam

Qualifying Entrance Exam that is accepted by the National Institute of Design is mentioned below in the table:

Final exam of the 10+2 system under a central or state board recognized by the AIU (Association of Indian Universities)

Intermediate or two-year pre-university review under a board/university recognized by the Association of Indian Universities (AIU, Refer www.aiuweb.org).

Any public school, board/university examination completed in India or any foreign country recognized as equivalent to the 10+2 system by the AIU (Association of Indian Universities)

HSC vocational examination.

General Certificate Education (GCE) exam Studied at the Advanced (A) level taken in London, Cambridge, or Sri Lanka.

AICTE approved three-year Full-time Diploma post-class X offered by the Board of Technical Education of any state in India or Union Territories.

Applicants who took the final examination for class XII (or equivalent) outside India or from a board that not mentioned above should produce a certificate from the Association of Indian Universities (AIU) confirming that the exam they go through is equivalent to the class XII examination conducted in India. Students have to submit this certificate at the time of document verification.
What is the Eligibility for M.Des?
It is a 2.5 years Masters program offered by the NID in the following disciplines at the Ahmedabad, Bengaluru and Gandhinagar campuses. The table below gives the number of seats in each subject of specialization in the Ahmedabad, Bengaluru and Gandhinagar campuses. There are two Supernumerary seats reserved for overseas candidates in each discipline of specialty mentioned in the table below.

The following conditions must necessarily fulfill by the candidates applying for the Master's program at NID DAT 2022.
Age Limit:
The upper age limit for the candidates applying for this course is 30 years on or before July 30, 2022. The upper age limit for the reserved category candidates can relax by three years.
- For General category, Candidates born on or before July 1, 1990, would be ineligible.
- For Reserved category (OBC-NCL, SC, ST & PH), candidates born on or before July 1, 1989, would be unsuitable
Educational Qualification:
Applicants should have passed or should be appearing for the following, before July 2022:
- Bachelor's degree under the 10+2+4 scheme in any discipline, from any University or Institute, recognized in India
- A Diploma in Design from any of the recognized universities or institutes under the 10+2+4 system or Candidates should either have passed or should be appearing in the following, before July 2019. Bachelor's degree in any Course from any of the recognized Institute or University recognized in India under the 10+2+3 scheme.
GDPD Aspirants Eligibility for NID DAT 2022
GDPD Aspirants should check the eligibility for applying NID DAT 2022. Graduate Diploma Program in Design (GDPD) is a two-semester Foundation course which further followed by six semesters of specified studies in any of the following three disciplines offered under GDPD:
- Industrial Design
- Communication Design
- Textile & Apparel Design
Applications for 60 seats have invited for the GDPD program for the 2022-20 session. The eligibility for GDPD aspirants for NID 2022 is similar to the quality of B.Des. NID Vijayawada and NID Ahmedabad admit Students for whom a standard Design Aptitude Test (DAT) conducted. However, NID Vijayawada holds further rounds to accept candidates who opt for this campus.
NID DAT Overseas Candidates Eligibility
Aspirants who hold citizenship of any country other than the Republic of India will be qualified to apply under the overseas Students category. Overseas category comprises of 15 percentile supernumerary seats under B.Des and M.Des programs.
- NRIs have to apply as an Indian citizen.
- Applicants holding a foreign passport with a valid PIO or OCI status can apply under any of the categories i.e., either the 'Indian' or 'Overseas' category. They using under the overseas category, have to pay fees equivalent to foreign citizens.
- Online applications will accept for Students applying under the Overseas Category. The official Entries website in this regard is admissions.nid.edu
- Candidates opting for the Bachelors or Masters program under the overseas category can appear for DAT only at the Ahmedabad campus.
- The NID DAT 2022 Hall tickets will be available for the official site, and it will be the responsibility of the student to take a print of the same.
For acceptance of offer for Entry, the overseas applicants will have to appear before the NID authorities in person at the campus of NID. Applicants should produce the original documents and attested copies thereof as under:
- Certified copy of the Passport of the candidate
- In the case of B.Des candidates, certified photocopies of mark sheets of SSC and HSC
- In the case of M.Des candidates, attested copies of mark sheets of SSC, HSC, Course Completed years of graduation along with degree/provisional/passing certificate.
- Students from the Association of Indian Universities (AIU), an equivalence certificate needs to produce before the admission process.

NID DAT 2023 Exam Eligibility 2023 - FAQ
Candidates from the general and general groups of the EWS are expected to be born on or before 1 July 2001. For the candidates from the OBC- Non Creamy Layer/ST/SC groups, however, there is a three year relaxation. To be eligible to apply for admission, PwD reserved candidates must be born on or before 1 July 1996.
The NID DAT 2022 examination will be carried out in two phases: the Prelims and the Mains exam. However, aspirants need to clear the prelims exam to participate in the NID DAT mains exam.
In all streams from recognised boards such as CBSE, IB, ICSE or its counterpart, candidates must have passed or appeared in the 10+2 test. For the admission entrance test, aspirants who have passed the examination equivalent to the above-mentioned qualifying examination can also apply.
In order to be eligible for the NID DAT 2023 entrance test, Foriegn National Overseas candidates must be born on or before 1 July 2001.
