MCAT Known as Medical College Admission Test. It is an entrance test for admissions into medical schools in the United States, Canada, Australia, and the Carribean Islands. It designed by the Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC) and administered by Pearson VUE. MCAT is conducted 25 times in a year in 21 countries. The MCAT( Medical College Admission Test) is a standardized, multiple-choice test that most medical schools in the U.S. and some in Canada require as part of your application. And It's used to assess whether you understand the concepts and principles that are prerequisite to the study of medicine. Apart from testing the knowledge of scientific fundamentals necessary for completing medical school, the test also focuses on written analysis and problem-solving skills. The MCAT test is excruciatingly long with a length of almost 7.5 hours, and you should prepare well to avoid the possibility of a re-take.

How to Register for the MCAT 2019?

The MCAT organization's body is the Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC). To register for the MCAT exam, you should visit their website and register via the MCAT Registration System. Although the AAMC gives over 20 test dates per year at hundreds of sites around the world, to register for the MCAT 2019, follow these steps below.

  1. Students can create an account on the AAMC website(aamc.org) before the MCAT registration opens.
  2. Candidates keep track of your username, password, and security questions.
  3. To Provide the personal information needed, ensuring that the data you provide matches the government-issued ID you have in mind to use as identification on the day of your MCAT Exam.
  4. Students should mind that after filling out all the personal details, you will allow them to register for a test date and select your preferred location.
  5. Click on Find Seat to see what's available at your location.
  6. MCAT seats available, you can register for that test date. If not, search for other locations until you find an open position.
  7. Remember that you'll need your credit card information so that you can pay the registration fee. 

When should students take the MCAT? 

  • Student's third year of college, you should figure out the best time to take the Medical College Admission Test. Ideally, you'll choose a test date that allows you to have lots of time to study. And also need to determine when the result release date is so that you can provide your MCAT score early in the medical school registration process.
  • Most of the Candidates take the MCAT at the end of their third year of college/the summer before their fourth year. This strategy provides them time to be able to retake the MCAT exam in the fall of their fourth year if they are dissatisfied with their MCAT score. By the time you take your test, you should have taken the courses you'll need to know information from the following Subjects.

Overview For MCAT

  • Students should apply for a medical school and mention the same in a verification statement during registration.
  • To take a test for purposes other than attending a medical school. One must get special permission from AAMC.
  • Students can take a maximum of 3 tests in one year and four tests over two years; and 7 trials in life.
  • The online MCAT test consists of four sections to attempted in 7.5 hours.
  • The MCAT Overall score range lies between 472 – 528.

How to Know the MCAT Eligibility 2019?

  • Aspirants interested in pursuing a career in Allopathic, Osteopathic, Podiatric, and Veterinary can appear for the MCAT test.
  • Candidates from the U.S. and Canada should have a UG degree to be Qualify for the exam.
  • International Students must be pursuing or have completed MBBS to sit for MCAT.
  • Candidates taking MCAT for purposes other than pursuing a career in medicine are required to get special permission from AAMC authorities.

About MCAT Fee Structure and Scheduling Zone 2019

MCAT varies depending upon when you are applying for the exam. The registration deadlines divided into three zone – Gold, Silver, and Bronze. Details of these zones are as follows.

Gold Zone

  • Flexibility of date and location
  • Reschedule exam at the lowest cost
  • Can get partial refund on canceling the reservation
  • Low reschedule and canceling fee for Fee Assistance Programs recipients.

Silver Zone

  • No increase in registration fee
  • Can the reschedule exam on the given price
  • Can cancel the reservation but no refund

Bronze Zone

  • Can cancel the booking but no refund.

Changing the Appointment for MCAT 

  1. An additional fee required for this service.
  2. One may change the test date and center before the deadline and if space is available.
  3. Availability for the same can check on MCAT Registration System.
  4. Re-Scheduling can do the latest by the deadline of the silver zone.
  5. Post the silver zone deadline, and one must take a new appointment if one needs to reschedule the exam.

MCAT Registration Cancellation and Refunds

  1. Cancellation is available only till the deadline of the Gold zone; post which student will receive no refunds upon cancellation
  2. Emergency refunds can be made till the period of Silver zone if the student is- 
  • Hospitalized
  • Unexpected death in family members.
  • unexpectedly called away to active military service
  • Suddenly called away for health care service duties due to a catastrophic event.
  • Injury duty on the day of exam
  • displaced from his/her residence due to a natural calamity.

MCAT 2019 Test Pattern

  1. MCAT students on their problem-solving skills, critical thinking, written analysis, and knowledge of scientific concepts and principles.

  2. The computer-based test contains 221 multiple choice questions

  3. Total time duration of exam is 7.5 hours with breaks in between

  4. There are four sections. That is the Chemical and Physical Foundations of Biological Systems, Critical Analysis and Reasoning Skills, Biological and Biochemical Foundations of Living Systems, and Psychological, Social, and Biological Foundations of Behavior.

MCAT Exam Rescoring

  1. If Students find any discrepancy in the MCAT score, they can contact through MCAT Registration System for the fault.
  2. AAMC will reply within three weeks with positive/negative acknowledgment.
  3. Students cannot put up the request after 30 days of score release.

What are the MCAT 2019 Exam Day Guidelines?

Students must report to the test center 30 minutes before the MCAT examination. After that, they should not be allowed to take the test, and no refund will provide. Only those examiners who have qualifying ID will be allowed to enter the test center. Otherwise, it’s a no show. Students must bring a valid ID at the MCAT test center. An MCAT ID is valid if it is –

  • Not past its expiration date
  • Issued by government
  • Candidate Photograph
  • signature of the candidate
  • Not tampered/damaged in any way

Temporary IDs, paper IDs, IDs with extension stickers/ID application receipts are not accepted. The first & last name on the ID must be the same as on MCAT 2019 registration. In case of any correction related to this, the issue could resolve through AAMC services. They provided with two 10 minutes break and one 30 minutes break, but they cannot leave the testing center at any cost.
