Overview of JEE Main

JEE Main is Joint Entrance Examination which was being conducted by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) till 2018. Later which, JEE Main is conducted by the NTA for admissions to various engineering institutions in India. JEE Main is apt for admission to NITs, IIITs and CFTIs. JEE Main is an objective type of exam which has two papers such as Paper 1 and Paper 2. Students who aspire to take up B.Tech courses should take Paper 1 and students who choose B.Arch programmes will have to appear for Paper 2. JEE Main exams will be conducted twice a year. There is a modification made to JEE Main exams that the candidates are allowed to appear for the two exams in the year and the best score can be taken into consideration. JEE Main Eligibility Criteria

The eligibility of JEE Main still remains the same. Aspirants can check the JEE Main eligibility criteria here. Candidates who meet the JEE Main eligibility criteria are eligible to apply for JEE Main 2019. The eligibility criteria are given below for the candidate's reference.

  • Candidates must have passed his/her 12th examination with 75% marks (General) and 65% marks (reserved categories).
  • Aspirants who are applying for B.E/B. Tech must have studied Physics and Mathematics along with Chemistry/Biology/Biotechnology.
  • Aspirants who apply for B.Arch/B. Planning must have studied 12th with the subject Mathematics. Candidates no need to meet the pass percentage to take JEE Main exam.
  • NTA has not given any age limit for the students to appear in JEE Main exams.

  • Fill the form by entering all your details such as Nationality, State of Eligibility, Identification Type, Aadhaar Card, Aspirant's Name, Date of Birth, Gender, Security Pin, and so on.

  • Candidates who apply from reserved category should submit caste certificates from designated authority.

What is the Exam Pattern of JEE Main 2019?

JEE Main consists of two papers such as paper 1 and paper 2. Paper 1 consists of questions from subjects such as Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics. The total number of questions from Paper 1 is 90 and the total marks are 360. The time duration allotted to complete the exam is 3 hours and physically challenged candidates, duration of the exam is 4 hours. The question paper is available in both English and Hindi. Part 3 questions of Paper 2 in JEE Main has to be answered with drawing. For Part 1 and Part 2, questions will be awarded 4 marks each and 1/4th of the total mark allotted will be deducted. For Part - III of paper 2, marks will be awarded based on the candidate’s drawing skills.

What is JEE Main Admit Card?

Candidates should download the JEE Main admit card and keep it safe till the JEE result will be released by the officials. Aspirants should carry the admit card to the examination centre and hall. What is JEE Main Cut Off?

JEE Main Cut Off marks are the minimum marks every candidate should score in order to be eligible to appear for JEE Main counselling. The JEE Main cut off marks varies for different courses and different institutions. JEE Main cut off can be checked online by logging in the official page. There are many factors that influence the JEE Main cut off marks. Some of the factors that influence the cut off marks are difficulty level of the exam, number of candidates appeared for the exam, the result, available seats in the institutions for a particular course and previous year cut off marks. There are two types of cut off marks namely admission cut off marks and qualifying cut off. Qualifying cut off marks are the minimum marks that are required to scored by the students to get qualified in the exams. Whereas the admission cut off is the marks to be scored by the candidates to secure a seat in the preferred college for the preferred course. JoSAA which stands for Joint Seat Allocation Authority conducts JEE Main Counselling and seat allotment process. Candidates who has scored minimum cut off marks will be able to apply for JEE Main counselling. One who has high cutoff will be alloted seats in the preferred course and preferred institution.
