New Update on 19-03-2021: JEE Main Eligibility Criteria 2021 - The Union Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank has announced the relaxation in JEE Main Eligibility Criteria 2021. As per the revised JEE Main Eligibility Criteria 2021, students are no longer required to obtain a minimum of 75% in the Class 12 exam for admission. The Education Minister has announced that minimum of 75% marks in class 12 will not be  Eligibility Criteria  for admission in the NITs, IIITs, SPAs, and other CFTIs whose admissions are based on JEE Main 2021 scores. NTA released the JEE Main Eligibility Criteria 2021 along with the official brochure at jeemain.nta.nic.in. JEE Main eligibility criteria 2021 contains of many important details like as educational qualification, age limit, nationality, marks secured in compulsory subjects, class 12th, and more. JEE Main Eligibility Criteria 2021 Details

Qualifying exam

  • Candidates must have passed class 12 or qualifying the exam in 2019 or 2020.

  • Candidates appearing in class 12 or equivalent qualifying exam in 2021 can also apply for JEE Main 2021.

Number of attempts

  • Students can participate in the JEE Main for 3 consecutive years. The JEE Main 2021 exam will be conducted 4 times in February, March, April and May.

JEE Mains Eligibility Criteria 2021- List of Qualifying Examinations

JEE Main Eligibility Criteria 2021 

To apply for JEE Main 2021, candidates required to satisfy the following condition:

Age Criteria:

  • There are No age criteria required for applying to the JEE Mains exam as of now. 
  • Passing Year of Class 12 / Equivalent in 2019 or 2020. Candidates currently in class 12 and will pass it in 2021 are also eligible for the exam.

Number of Attempts:

  • There is no restriction on a number of attempts in JEE Main 2021.

List of Qualifying Examinations (QE) – A qualifying examination is the last official school education exam which the candidate passed. The list of the acceptable qualifying examination for JEE Main 2021 is as follows:

  • Class 12th board exam from any recognized central or state Board
  • Intermediate or two-year Pre-University examination.
  • Final examination of the two-year course of the Joint Services Wing of the National Defense Academy
  • The Senior Secondary School Examination administered by the National Institute of Open Schooling with a minimum of five subjects.
  • Any Public School, Board, University examination in India or any foreign country acknowledged as equivalent to the 10+2 system by the Association of Indian Universities (AIU).
  • Higher Secondary Certificate Vocational Examination.
  • A Diploma recognized by AICTE or a State board of technical education of at least a three-year duration.

At the time of filling out the application form, candidates will be required to enter the state of JEE Main Eligibility Criteria 2021

Important Points

  • The state of JEE Main Eligibility Criteria 2021 is the code of the state from where a candidate has completed class 12th.

  • The state code of eligibility does not depend upon the native place or the place of residence of the candidate.

  • If a candidate has passed class 12 or equivalent exam from a state but candidates has appeared for the improvement exam from a different state, then the state code where the student originally passed the qualifying exam will be considered for eligibility.

  • Candidates who have completed 12th standard or equivalent from NIOS have to select the state of eligibility according to the state in which the study centre is located.

  • For Indian nationals who have passed class 12th or equivalent from Nepal/Bhutan, the State code of eligibility will be determined on the basis of permanent address in India as given in the passport of the candidate

  • The State code of eligibility of OCI/PIO passing Class 12th standard exam in India will be at par with Indian nationals, however, OCI/PIO passing the 12th standard exam from an institution abroad will be eligible for other state quota seats or All India quota seats (but not for Home State quota seats) in all NITs, IIEST and Other-CFTIs.

What are the JEE Main Eligibility Criteria 2021 for the exam?

The candidates who are applying for the JEE mains must possess the eligibility criteria that are given below. The candidates can check the  JEE Main Eligibility Criteria 2021 before applying the application form. 

Number of Attempt

The applicants can attend the entrance exam for 3 consecutive years. The Exam will be held two times a year, where the candidates can attend both the time. The attempt for an academic year will be considered as 1. 

Age factor

There are no specific Age factors in appearing the JEE mains but, the candidates who have born on or after October 1st 1994, can appear for the JEE Mains. The applicants who were born before October 1st 1994 cannot appear for the JEE Main. 

Qualification

The candidates who have passed the 10+2 Examination with the compulsory subject of Physics and maths along with any of the subjects like Chemistry, Biotechnology, Technical Vocational, or Biology subject. 

Pass Percentage 

Paper 1- The candidates must have secured at least 75% of marks during their 12th boards, or the must have a top 20 percentage during their 12th boards. The candidates who belong to SC /ST the qualified marks will be 65% in their 12 boards.

Paper 2 - For the candidates who are appearing B. Planning and B. Arch they must have Secured 50% in their Physics, Chemistry and in maths. Also there must be 50% in their aggregate of the qualifying Examination.
