New Update on 11.06.2021: GATE COAP 2021 - IIT Delhi has begun the registration procedure for GATE COAP 2021. The Gate COAP (Common Offer Acceptance Portal) 2021 Round schedule has been issued. Candidates who seek to seek admission to the participating institutes of COAP must register online at coap.iitm.ac.in. Seats in the M.Tech programme have been filled thanks to COAP. Candidates are given places based on their GATE 2019 score, 2020 score, or 2021 score. GATE COAP 2021 - Round 1 Seat Allotment (Started) @ coap.iitm.ac.in

GATE COAP 2021 - From May 28, the authorities will conduct GATE 2021 COAP counselling and seat allotment round 1. The GATE 2021 COAP is a centralised admissions mechanism for PG Engineering programmes at all participating IITs and ISC Bangalore. GATE COAP counselling 2021 is open to candidates who have a valid GATE score from the years 2019, 2020, or 2021. Candidates will need to register and fill up a list of their preferred programmes and institutes. The Common Offer Acceptance Portal (COAP) is a website where candidates can view the GATE participating institutes' results and seat allotment. GATE 2021 was held on the 6th, 7th, 13th, and 14th of February.

Eligibility Criteria for GATE COAP 2021

Candidates who want to pursue M.Tech programs at IITs and ISc Bangalore must check if they satisfy the Eligibility Criteria for GATE COAP 2021. Only eligible candidates can register for GATE COAP counselling. Check out the eligibility norms set to register for COAP:

  • Applying Candidates must be an Indian National
  • The Candidate should have a valid GATE score from the year 2019/ 2020/ 2021.
  • If a candidate has a GATE score in more than one paper, then he/she should provide details about all the scores.
  • Candidates with more than one valid GATE score should enter the highest score during registration. However, details about all the other scores will be required.
  • Candidates must make sure to fulfil the eligibility criteria specified by the respective institute in which they are applying.

GATE COAP 2021 Admission Process

Candidates who desire to pursue M.Tech program at the IITs should know the complete process of COAP registration seat allotment. We have provided detailed information about the GATE COAP 2021 for the reference of the candidates:

  • Candidates who qualify GATE only can register themselves online for GATE counselling.
  • After registration, the candidates are required to pay the GATE counselling fee.
  • The successful payment of fee will confirm the registration of the candidate.
  • Candidates should fill in their preferred programs and institutes after making the payment.
  • After successful online registration, the candidate will participate in various rounds of seat allotment, in which the candidates will be allotted the seats on the basis of their GATE merit list.
  • After the seat allotment, the candidate should visit the allotted institute for admission and fee payment.
  • During admission, the candidates should provide the original documents along with them for Document verification.
  • Upon successful verification of the original documents, the candidates should pay the course fee at the allotted institute.
  • The institute, which offers admission to the candidate, will issue a provisional admission letter after document verification and fee payment.
  • After this step, the candidate must confirm their admission at the allotted institute.
  • Candidates should note that confirmation of the allotted seat is important. Because, if the seat is not confirmed by the candidate, it will be allotted to some other candidate.

GATE COAP 2021 Registration Process

To Participate in the GATE COAP 2021 counselling process, the eligible candidates should first register themselves. The step by step registration process is given below for the reference of the candidates:

  • Candidates should visit the COAP Portal.
  • Candidates should register online by providing the basic details of the candidate and GATE qualification and click on ‘Register’.
  • After successful registration, Candidates will receive login information in the registered email and password details in the mobile phone.
  • Candidates should log in using the login ID and password provides.
  • Candidates should verify the details entered while registering.
  • Now the candidates must apply to the institutes in which they seek admission from the institute’s official website.
  • Candidates can then check allotment status after the seat allotment round.

NOTE:

  • * No, if the candidate has already used “Retain & Wait” on the same offer twice. The same offer refers to the program “ABC” of a particular Institute “XYZ”.
  • Rounds 1-4 will have three options: Accept & Freeze, Retain & Wait, Reject & Wait.
  • Round 5 will be a Decisive Round. Hence, the candidates should only 'Accept and Freeze' and 'Reject' options to select.

1) Accept & Freeze:

  • A candidate can select this option, while seat allotment process, if he/she is willing to accept the offers available and does not like to be considered for upgrading to higher preferences in the forthcoming rounds.
  • Candidates who choose this particular option will not be considered for admission offer in the subsequent round.
  • After selecting the 'Accept and Freeze' option, the candidate should click the "Submit" button to confirm the submission of his/her decision.
  • The candidate should then visit the respective Academic Institute's Admission Portal and follow the procedure provided as per the instructions on the respective website.

2) Retain & Wait:

  • Candidates who indicate his/her partial acceptance to any one of the available offers can choose the "Retain & Wait" option.
  • The option means that the candidate would like to be considered for upgrading to the higher preferences of the candidates, if any, in the subsequent round of offers.
  • Candidates who select "Retain & Wait" option will not be considered for the other rejected offers in the current round.
  • But, if any higher preferred offer is made in the next round then the existing 'Retain and Wait' offer will be released.
  • It should be noted that the candidate can choose “Retain and Wait” on the same offer (same institute and same program) only twice.
  • The candidate will be considered for other higher preferences, if any, in the subsequent round(s) of admission offered in the participating academic Institutes.

3) Reject & Wait:

  • Candidates who are not willing to accept any of the offers of admission in the current round can choose "Reject & Wait".
  • These candidates will be considered for other higher preferences, if any, in the subsequent round(s) of admission offered in any participating academic Institutes.
  • Candidates should note that the same offer will not appear in the subsequent rounds as he/she has rejected this offer.
  • After choosing the "Reject and Wait" option, the candidate should click submit to confirm the submission of decision.
  • Candidates will not be able to choose the “Retain & Wait” option more than twice on a specific offer.

  • Candidates should Note that COAP is not an Application Portal for M.Tech. Admission in any participating institutes.

  • Candidates should apply separately to the respective Institute where they seek to get M.Tech. admission.

  • Each Institute will follow the selection procedure as per the norms and guidelines of the respective Institute.

  • The participating IITs will upload their offers on COAP in a time window as given here.

  • Each candidate should register at COAP, in order to access and make a decision on the most preferred choice out of the offers (if any) made by participating Institute(s).

  • Candidates should that all the participating IIT institutes have separate/different forms for the GATE COPA 2021 counselling procedure.

  • Candidates must bring all the original documents at the time of GATE COAP 2021 counselling.

  • After the declaration of GATE result, the candidates are advised to keep checking the official website for updates of GATE counselling.

  • Candidates can increase the chances of getting admission into IITs, by applying to all the Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) for all the programs such as ME, M.Tech, M.Sc, etc. for which they are eligible.
