NTA has announced CMAT Exam 2021 Dates

New Update: CMAT Exam 2021 - National Testing Agency has announced CMAT Exam 2021 dates. CMAT Exam 2021s are to be conducted on 24th January 2020. Students can register for CMAT 2021 from 1st November 2019 through online mode. The last date to register for CMAT 2020 is on 30th November 2019. Students can download their CMAT Admit Cards after registrations. However, this year due to COVID 19 pandemic there has been a delay in the release of the CMAT 2021 application form. A number of other exams which were supposed to be conducted by NTA in the first half of the year were also postponed. CMAT Admit Card can be downloaded from 24th December 2019. CMAT Results are expected to be announced on 3rd February 2020.

What is CMAT?

Common Management Admission Test (CMAT) is an entrance test for PG courses. This entrance test is computer-based which is conducted in a single session to test the candidate's skills in various sections such as Quantitative Aptitude, Language Comprehension, Logical Reasoning, and General Awareness. CMAT was conducted by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) till 2018. In 2019, CMAT will be conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA) for admission to PG courses such as MBA and PGDM.

Important Dates of CMAT

Common Management Admission Test (CMAT) is a computer-based test which will be conducted by the NTA as per the latest announcements of the MHRD. Till academic session 2015-16, CMAT was conducted two times in a year. Best of the two scores would be taken as final for admission. From academic session 2017-18, CMAT is conducted once in a year and CMAT scores are accepted by various management colleges and institutes all over India for admissions into MBA, PGDM, and PGP courses.

What is CMAT Admit Card?

CMAT admit card is a very important document that is to be brought by all the candidates who appear for CMAT exams 2019. Without the admit card, candidates will not be able to attend the CMAT exams. CMAT admit card will be available only through online mode. It will be available in the official page of CMAT on 7th January 2019 and students can download it from the same by entering a few details. Students should check all the details provided in CMAT admit card. If there is any mistake, then it must be conveyed to the authorities immediately. All the candidates will have to carry a photo ID proof along with CMAT admit card for the CMAT exam. Some of the details that are present in CMAT admit card are listed below.

What is the Eligibility Criteria for CMAT 2019 Exam?

CMAT has a few eligibility criteria. Candidates who meet the eligibility conditions of CMAT can apply. The eligibility details are provided below, 

  • Applicant must be an Indian citizen.
  • Aspirants must have completed a Graduation degree in any discipline. 
  • Final year students of Graduate Courses (10+2+3) whose result will be declared before the start of admission for the academic year 2018-19 are eligible to apply.
  • Candidates who have completed their graduation through part-time or distance learning institutions which are recognised by the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD) are eligible to apply.
  • Please note that there is no age limit for CMAT.
  • Candidates who come under Persons with disabilities (PwD) with not less than 40% disability belong to Visually Impaired, Hearing impairment, or dumb are eligible to apply.

How to Apply for CMAT?

CMAT 2019 registration link will be open soon. Candidates who are interested to apply for CMAT can do the same on the mentioned date. Before that, candidates should register on the official website of CMAT as a new user. Candidates can get their login credentials to login further to fill the application form on successful registration. 

  1. Visit the official website of CMAT
  2. Click on the CMAT registration link 
  3. Fill in all the required fields without any error
  4. Select dates and test venues (3 cities) for the computer-based exam 
  5. Upload the necessary documents and photographs if needed
  6. Pay the application fee via any mode of payment (Debit/credit card, Net Banking, and Cash Deposit in SBI Bank) provided there. The application fee details are given below,
    • For General and OBC candidates - Rs. 1400 + Bank charges
    • For SC/ST/PD candidates - Rs. 700 + Bank charges
  7. Cross-check the filled application and submit it.

Documents to keep ready before filling the CMAT Application form

Candidates need to keep a few documents ready with them before filling the CMAT application form. The following list clearly explains the set of documents to keep ready,

  1. Aspirants should keep all their prior academic qualification details ready. 
  2. A scanned photo of the candidate.
    • Dimension should be 140 * 160
    • Size should be less than or equal to 60 KB, and the photo should be in JPEG/JPG format.
  3. Scanned signature of the aspirant with clarity on a white background 
    • Signature dimension should be 60 * 90.
    • Size should be less than or equal to 30 KB and ensure that the signature is in JPEG/JPG format.
  4. A valid mobile number and valid email address for further communication.
  5. A valid debit/credit card to make the payment 
  6. A printer should be connected to the Personal Computer (PC) or laptop so that one can take 3 copies of the challan if he/she plans to deposit the fees via cash at the bank.

What are the Test Cities available for CMAT?

CMAT will be conducted at various cities across India. Candidates are allowed to select up to 3 test cities. Candidate’s 1st preference for the test city will be given the highest priority. What is the Exam Pattern and Marking Scheme of CMAT?

CMAT 2019 is a computer-based test and it will be held soon. CMAT will be conducted in a single session. Based on the previous CMAT, it is expected that CMAT 2019 would be conducted in English only. Candidates who crack CMAT can be eligible for further process. Here is the CMAT 2019 exam pattern,

  • 1 mark will be reduced for each incorrect answer
  • No marks will be deducted for unanswered questions.

Information on CMAT Answer Key

CMAT Answer Key is released on 1st February 2019 by the National Testing Agency. CMAT answer key 2019 is the list of all the answers to the questions asked in the CMAT exams. CMAT answer key allows the candidates to check their answers before the original CMAT results are released. Students can download the CMAT answer key from online. Students are given an option to challenge the answer key on the given dates if necessary. CMAT answer key helps the students to estimate their expected score in CMAT results. Follow the below given steps to check CMAT answer key.

  • Visit the CMAT official page.
  • Students will have to login using the credentials.
  • Click on the “Display question papers and CMAT Answer Key” tab to download the answer key along with the question paper.
  • The answer key in downloaded in PDF format.

Students can compare their answers with the official answer and can calculate their scores. But if they find that any of the answers are wrong, they have an option to challenge the answer key. Follow the below given steps to challenge CMAT answer key.

  • Visit the CMAT official page.
  • Login using the credentials like application number and password.
  • Click on “Challenge Answer Key”.
  • Choose the appropriate answer that is to be challenged.
  • Finally click “Save Claims” to submit the objection.
  • You will be directed to a page where you can upload your explanation that supports the objection.
  • The uploaded file should be in the .jpg, .png or .pdf format and should not exceed 1MB in size.
  • By submitting, you will be directed to the payment page where you will have to make a payment of Rs.1000 per question either using net banking or credit or debit card.
  • The payment paid for challenging an answer is non-refundable.

What is CMAT Cut Off?

CMAT Cut off is the minimum marks that every candidate should score to be considered as qualified. CMAT cut off marks are varies between different institutions. Students scoring high cut off marks will be given more priority in obtaining admission in the preferred course. CMAT cut off marks of previous years provides an idea about the present year's results, and students can assume their probability of obtaining admission in their preferred courses. CMAT cut off marks are influenced by a few factors are listed below.

Information on CMAT Results

CMAT Results were published on 29th February 2019 at 6.30pm in the CMAT official page. The results are published online reflecting section-wise and overall percentile scores of the candidate. CMAT result was actually expected to be published on 5th February but later it was rescheduled. Candidates will be able to download the results and score cards through online by logging in the CMAT official page using the login credentials. Follow the below given steps to download the CMAT results.

  • Visit the CMAT Result link.
  • Login using CMAT application number and password or by using application number and date of birth of the candidate.
  • Click on CMAT results or scorecards.
  • The result is automatically downloaded in the PDF format and students will have to take a print out of the results page.

Information on CMAT Selection Process

All the candidates who are qualified in the CMAT exams 2019 will be called for further selection rounds based on their scores. In these selection rounds, the candidates’ skills are tested. Students are the shortlisted after each round and based on their performance they are called for the final round of selection process. The interview includes the below mentioned rounds.

  • Group discussion
  • Personal interview or Written ability test
  • Final selection

Group discussion

Candidates who has been selected by the participating universities are called for the group discussion. Group discussion is held by organising the students into groups of 7 to 10 members. The person in charge will provide a topic to each group and candidates will have to discuss on the provided topic. Topics are based on current affairs, politics or economics. Candidates will have to share their opinions, views and actively participate in the group discussion. Communication skills, leadership, negotiation and managerial skills of the candidates are tested through group discussion.

Personal interview or Written ability test

Those are short listed in the group discussion round will be called for the next process that is either for a personal interview or a written ability test. Written ability test is where the candidates will be asked to answer a few questions and write about some topic related to current affairs as provided. The writing skills, fluency and grammatical skills are tested through this round. Sometimes instead of written test, the candidates are directly asked to attend a personal interview. Here the senior interviewer asks a few questions to the candidate to check their communication skills. Also the academic qualifications of the candidates are checked by a panel of interviewers.

After all the rounds, the candidates are finally selected.

Key Points to Remember before CMAT Registration 

  1. The National Testing Agency will administer CMAT 2019.
  2. Aspirants should pay the mentioned application fee as follows, 
    • General/ OBC categories - Rs. 1400 + bank charges
    • SC/ST/PWD category - Rs. 700 + bank charges
  3. Candidates should pay the application fee either be paid in cash or online using their credit, debit or net banking. If you plan to pay cash, you will need to generate a Challan through the website of CMAT and visit the SBI bank. Candidates are not allowed to pay the fees through cheque or demand draft. 
  4. Aspirants should register through a valid email address as the email is used for further communication.
  5. Candidates are allowed to select up to 3 test cities. Based on the availability of seats, the test centres will be allotted to the candidates.
  6. Aspirants are not allowed to make any changes once they have submitted the CMAT 2019 application form.
  7. Cancellation of application or refund of the fee is strictly not allowed, under any circumstances.
  8. The application fee will not be refundable in casecandidatess miss their test or do not appear for the exam on the scheduled time, location, and date.

1. How many times is CMAT exam held in a year?  

The CMAT is held once a year in the month of January. The exam is conducted at various exam centres across 75 cities in India. You could choose the test city according to your preference.
