New Update on 28-01-2023: CLAT Counselling 2023 - On December 28, 2022, the Consortium of National Law Universities (NLUs) began accepting registrations for CLAT 2023 counselling. Today, January 27, 2023, CLAT 2023 will announce the second seat allocation. Now also available are the CLAT cut-offs for the initial round of counselling. Five rounds of online counselling for the CLAT 2023 exam are being held. Candidates whose names are on the CLAT 2023 invite list may register for the counselling online through the consortiumofnlus.ac.in login portal. The CLAT counselling cost is Rs. 30,000 for candidates in the general category and Rs. 20,000 for candidates in the SC and ST categories. How to Register for CLAT Counselling 2023?
Consortium of NLUs releases the invite list for counselling process of UG and PG programmes. Eligible candidates can register with the help of the following steps.
CLAT 2023 Registration
The registration process includes two steps:-
1st step – Update of NLU preferences
Candidates must give a minimum of five preferences at least.

Change of preference will not be entertained after the last date of registration.

Candidates must choose their preferences wisely, as per their marks, rank, and all the other options. If submitted, there will be no choice of updating the preferences.

Candidates will be eligible for admission in the preferred NLUs only. Even, if vacancies are available in other NLUs, if the candidate has chosen only 5 NLUs, he/she will be entitled to get admission only in the preferred NLUs.
2nd step- Online payment of INR 50,000/-

Candidates have to make an online payment of INR 50,000/- on the Consortium website to register themselves for counselling.

Candidates are advised to make the payment before the last date to avoid rush, and any other issue.

If a candidate fails to make the payment before the last date, he/she will not be considered for counselling in any case.
Important Note:
- Candidates successfully completing the registration process, will be considered for admission only.
- Those students who failed to complete the registration process, or did not participated will not be considered at all.
- Those candidates who have not received an invitation, may get their invites in the subsequent rounds of counselling.
CLAT 2023 Seat Allotment List
Consortium announces the 1st provisional seat allotment list of those candidates, who successfully completes the registration process, as given above. Selected candidates have the following options:
- Accept the allotted seat

The candidates choosing the following option accepts the allotted seat. No further changes, or upgradation for a higher option (even if vacancies are available) will be considered.

Candidates have to submit all the required documents on the official website consortiumofnlus.ac.in by logging into their registered account. And have to make payment with respect to the allotted NLU.
2. Apply for Upgrade

Candidates choosing the following option, also have to make the payment with respect to the allotted NLU and have to upload the documents.

Only those candidates who have successfully submitted the documents, and paid the required fess will be considered for upgradation.

The candidates choosing the following option, will be considered for upgradation, in any of the higher preferred NLU, if vacancies are available. There seat will be locked too.
3. Exit from counselling
- If any candidate chooses this option, he/she loses the claim for any seat allotment. They will not be eligible for any current or future allotted seat.
If any candidate is not practicing any of the following options, within a specified time, they shall not be considered for seat allotment. Such candidates will lose the current seat and will be removed from the counselling process.

Candidates who did not get allotment in this list, should wait for the next allotment lists.

Last year, 5 seat allotment lists were announced by the Consortium of NLUs following the same process mentioned above, for CLAT counselling.

If seats remains vacant, even after the counselling process gets over. NLUs are free to admit candidates to fill the vacant seats, as per the norms, merit, and other guidelines.
CLAT 2023 Refund of Fee
If a candidate fails to get a seat, after the release of five lists by the Consortium, total amount of 50,000/- will be refunded, without any deduction. If a candidate exits the counselling process, or doesn’t accept the seat, total amount of 50,000/- will be refunded. After the 4th list, an amount of 10,000/- will be deducted. If a candidate is ineligible on the basis of documents, an amount of 40,000/- is refunded.

CLAT 2023 Counselling 2023 - FAQ
The amount is INR 50,000/- as per 2023.
The consortium will release a merit list of candidates who are shortlisted for the counselling process. Shortlisted candidates will be issued counselling call letters.
The counselling process will conducted in online mode via Centralised Online Counselling Process. So eligible candidates will have to get registered and participate in choice filling.
The CLAT seat allotment process will be based on two parameters: 1) the merit rank of the candidate in CLAT 2023, and 2) choices opted during counselling registration.
The CLAT counseling fee is expected to be Rs. 50,000, which is the same amount as last year.
