Five-time world champion M C Mary Kom entered the final of Asian Women's Boxing Championships at Ho Chi Minh City in Vietnam. She defeated Japan's Tsubasa Komura. She won four gold medals and a Silver in her five previous appearances at the event.

Nagaland is set to host ‘Hornbill Festival’ with the main motive to promote the ‘plastic-free’ mission all around. ‘Hornbill Festival’ will go on for 10 days from December 1 to 10 at the Naga Heritage village Kisama. He also urged the Hohos to give their best effort towards making the festival a grand success. Phom further informed that picturesque Kisama has been declared as a ‘Plastic Free Zone’ during the festival and asked the Hohos to propagate and ensure that no plastic is used throughout ten days festival.

Gujarat state is considered as one of the best models that have provided employment, economy, infrastructure and law and order to the state. It has been chosen for the ‘Best City Bus Services Award’ by the Central government. Notably, the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs gave the award to Surat Municipal Corporation for operating the 'best city bus services'. The corporation bagged the award for attracting 87 percent of a private vehicle and auto-rickshaw users to its buses. The Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs announced these awards to promote the best practices in urban transport and these are presented at the annual conference.

The State Government is on the ‘No load shedding mission’ for the orange city and its rural areas. The amount of electricity supply will now increase in the city as the state has approved Rs 312 Crores under Deendayal Upadhyay Gram Jyoti Yojana (DDUGYJ). This mission will be carried out by installing 47 sub-centers in which till now 19 sub-centers are successfully constructed.

HRD Minister Prakash Javadekar envisaged Operation Digital Blackboard in every school in the next few years. The main focus will be five themes - Digital Education, Physical Education, Value Education, Life Skills Education and Experiential Learning. The main aim of the workshop is to provide holistic education relevant for 21st century India and to bring together key stakeholders from various NGOs, private sector and individuals to deliberate on key themes in the education sector. Over the course of two days a total of 157 organizations/experts will be making their point via presentations. The participants will be divided theme-wise and detailed discussion would be held amongst the participants.

Revelations made in the media under the name ‘Paradise Papers’ [based upon expose done by the International Consortium of Investigative Journalists (ICIJ)] indicate that out of 180 countries represented in the data of offshore entities held by persons of different nationalities, India ranks 19th in terms of a number of names. 714 Indians reportedly appear in the tally. Further, the Government has directed that investigations in cases of Paradise Papers will be monitored through a reconstituted Multi Agency Group, headed by the Chairman, CBDT Sushil Chandra.

The Indian shooting contingent finished the Commonwealth Shooting Championship 2017 with the best tally of 20 medals. Indian shooters won a total of six gold, seven silver and seven bronze medals in the competition. On the competition's final day, Satyendra Singh and Sanjeev Rajput won a gold and a silver respectively in the men's 50m rifle three positions.

They promised $100billion of finance for low-carbon technology and sustainable development by 2025 as part its commitment to tackling climate change and other “green” goals. Indian Railways launched the main arch of the world’s highest bridge on the river Chenab in Jammu and Kashmir’s Reasi district which will provide direct connectivity to the Kashmir valley. The bridge will stand 359 meters above the bed of the River Chenab and will be 30 meters higher than the Eiffel Tower in Paris. The 1.3-km-long bridge is being constructed at a cost of Rs. 1,250 crore. The bridge would be completed by May 2019. The bridge could withstand winds up to 260 kmph and its lifespan will be 120 years.
