Kenneth Juster was sworn in as the US Ambassador to India. Vice President Mike Pence administered the oath of office to Juster in Washington. His work related to India played an important role in the transformation of the US-India relationship and helped provide the foundation for the historic civil nuclear agreement between the two countries. He played a key role in enhancing the Indo-US ties under the George W Bush administration.

Filmmaker Sujoy Ghosh has resigned as Head of the jury of the Indian Panorama of the 48th International Film Festival of India (IIFI). His resignation came following the elimination of the two films "Sexy Durga" and "Nude" from the final list of films. Instead of Nude, the Hindi movie Pihu by Vinod Kapri was finalized as the opening film of the festival. The jury includes 13-member jury which was led by Sujoy Ghosh.

India will overtake Japan and Germany in nominal GDP and is likely to achieve strong growth by 2028. India will also emerge as the world’s third-largest economy stated the Bank of America Merrill Lynch in a report titled, India 2028. According to the report, India has already emerged as the second largest BRIC economy after China by overtaking Brazil and Russia. By 2019, India will also overtake France and Britain to emerge as the world’s fifth largest economy. This assumes that the Indian economy witnesses a 10 percent (in nominal US GDP) growth in the next decade which is well ahead of Japan's 1.6 percent. The Bank of America Merrill Lynch has reported the country's real GDP growth at the potential of 7 percent.

To inspire, nurture and promote the spirit of entrepreneurship in tribal youth, the NITI Aayog in partnership with the US government organized India’s first Tribal Entrepreneurship Summit at Dantewada. The summit is inaugurated by MoS Science and Technology YS Chowdhary held at Dantewada in the Bastar region of Chhattisgarh. This event is an 8th Global Entrepreneurship Summit, being held in India which ensures yet another step towards tribal-centric sustainable and inclusive development.

The  37th India International Trade Fair (IITF) has begun at Pragati Maidan in New Delhi. The 14-day annual event has been organized by the India Trade Promotion Organisation (ITPO). It was inaugurated by President Ram Nath Kovind. This year the theme of the fair is “Startup India Standup India”. Vietnam is the Partner Country, while Kyrgyzstan is the Focus Country. Jharkhand is participating as a Partner State in the event.

Bangladesh Chief Justice Surendra Kumar Sinha resigned about six weeks after he went on leave amid criticism by the government over a Supreme Court verdict which scrapped Parliament's power to remove judges on grounds of misconduct and incapacity. Justice Sinha's term was scheduled to expire in January 2018. He is the first top judge of the country to step down.

United Nations is set to open its first official talks on the use of autonomous weapons, including killer robots, at the Convention on Certain Conventional Weapons (CCW) for 5 days, in Geneva. The meeting is chaired by Indian ambassador on disarmament, Amandeep Gill. The discussion will also include civil society and technology companies. It will be partly focused on understanding the types of weapons in the pipeline.

Northeast is set to get India’s first-ever “Air Dispensary” based in a helicopter and the Union Ministry of Development of Northeast (DONER) already contributed Rs. 25 crores as part of the initial funding. As per the plan, the helicopter will be based at two locations, namely Imphal in Manipur and Meghalaya in Shillong. From these two locations, specialist doctors, paramedical staff, and necessary equipment would move into the helicopter and hold a dispensary in different locations across the eight States of North Eastern Region.

Four agreements were signed by India and Philippines in areas including Defence Cooperation and Logistics, agriculture, Micro, Medium and Small Enterprises-MSME and forging closer relations between the Indian Council of World Affairs and the Philippines Foreign Service Institute. The bilateral meeting was held between PM Narendra Modi and the Philippines President Rodrigo Duterte. The bilateral component of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to the Philippines comes after 36 years. It may be noted that in the Indo-Philippine bilateral meet, President Duterte was accompanied by five of his senior cabinet colleagues.

The 10th South Asia Economic Summit (SAES) has begun in Kathmandu, Nepal. The theme of the 3-day summit is “Deepening Economic Integration for Inclusive and Sustainable Development in South Asia”. The summit is being organized by National Planning Commission and Ministry of Commerce of Nepal and South Asia Watch on Trade, Economics, and Environment, Nepal.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will attend 12th East Asia Summit and 15th ASEAN-India Summit in Manila. Both leaders discussed exploring the significant potential for further cooperation across a broad range of areas. He also held talks with Vietnam's Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc and bilateral talks with Prime Ministers of Japan and New Zealand and Sultan of Brunei. 

Mumbai is to host the 34th annual conference of the Asian Bankers Association (ABA) on 16th and 17th November 2017. The summit will be hosted by State Bank. The theme for this year’s summit is ‘Asia’s turn to transform’. This year summit mainly based discuss the impact of the ongoing global downturn on the outlook of the Asian economies, economic consequences of the Brexit in March 2019 on Asia, the America-first policy of the Trump administration, implications of fintech on banks.

Union Minister of State for Youth Affairs and Sports (Independent Charge), Col. Rajyavardhan Rathore released the ‘India Youth Development Index and Report 2017’ in New Delhi. In India Youth Development Index 2017, the five dimensions of Global Youth Development Index (Global YDI) have been retained. These five dimensions are education, health and well-being, employment and opportunity, political participation and civic participation for young people.

The Ministry of Women and Child Development would be celebrating the Child Rights Week by hosting ‘Hausala 2017’ festival from 16-20 November 2017. The festival will be hosted by the Ministry as an Inter CCI Festival for the children who reside in Child Care Institutions (CCIs). The week was chosen as the nation celebrates the Children’s Day on 14 November and the International Child Rights Day is celebrated annually on 20 November.
