India and Iran have expressed commitment for early completion and operationalisation of Chabahar Port besides strengthening bilateral ties. Both the countries in a series of meetings held during the Union Road Transport, Highways and Shipping Minister Nitin Gadkari two-day visit to Iran. India already requested Iran for an early submission of loan application for Chabahar Port Development to Exim Bank of India so that the contract agreement can be activated.

Iran signed the country’s biggest-ever car deal with French multinational automobile manufacturer Group Renault to produce 150,000 cars, beginning in 2018. The Euro €660 million or $778 million deal follows the lifting of international sanctions after Iran’s 2015 nuclear agreement with world powers. French carmaker PSA Peugeot Citroen reached a deal with Iran Khodro to open a plant producing 200,000 vehicles annually.

The 2030 Water Resources Group (2030WRG) will help the Maharashtra Government raise $270 million for the Green Climate Fund, which will be invested in integrated watershed programs such as Jalyukt Shivar Yojana. It is hosted by the International Finance Corporation and is a public-private-civil society collaboration for water resources reform in developing economies. The main aim is to close the gap between water demand and supply by the year 2030.

The Home Ministry also declared 20 km belt along Meghalaya’s border areas adjoining Assam and three districts in Arunachal Pradesh. The AFSPA continuing in Assam since November 1990. In 2016, there were 75 incidents of violence reported in Assam.

The world’s shortest woman Jyoti Amge presented a 51-feet high book at a program on 6 of August. The book Kadve Vachan is written by Jain saint Acharya Tarun Sagar Maharaj. It was unveiled by her in the presence of BJP state president Ashok Parnami. It is the ninth volume of the book written in Hindi. Amge is considered to be the world’s shortest woman by the Guinness World Records at 62.8 cm.

Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) beat Bengaluru Hockey Association (BHA) by 4-2 in the final in 91st All-India MCC-Murugappa Gold Cup hockey tournament. The team received Rs 5, 00,000 prize money while BHA got Rs 2.5 lakh. It was held at Mayor Radhakrishna stadium Egmore at Chennai.

The award is given in the form of a medal in recognition of his efforts to serve the community in the country. UAE Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior of the UAE, Lt General HH Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, honored Indian businessman and philanthropist Firoz Merchant with the Community Service Medal.

Mastercard and PayPal announced an extension of their partnership into Asia Pacific for making Mastercard a clear payment option within PayPal. PayPal will add Mastercard as a payment method to their e-wallet and consumers can make it their default payment option.  They will provide tokenization services and will enable mobile payments using PayPal’sdigital wallet at more than 6.5 million contactless-enabled merchant locations across the globe.
