  • Canara Bank introduced two new digital services for online payments

    For online payments, Canara Bank introduced two new digital services namely Bharat QR (Quick Response) and Bharat Bill Payment System (BBPS). Bharat QR (Quick Response) is for payment settlement at merchant locations. Bharat Bill Payment System (BBPS) is an initiative of the RBI and integrated bill payment system for net banking customers.

    Reserve Bank of India (RBI) will transfer surplus to the Government of India, which amounting to Rs.30,659 crore for the year 2016-17 ended 30 June. Previous year RBI paid Rs 65,876 crore dividend to the government.

    Pakistans Mother Teresa Ruth Pfau died in Karachi

    Dr. Ruth Pfau (aged 87), a German doctor popularly known as Pakistan’s ‘Mother Teresa’ for dedicating her life to eradicate leprosy in Pakistan, died in Karachi. She was born in 1929 in Germany. She was awarded the Hilal-e-Imtiaz - Pakistan’s second highest civilian award in 1979, the Hilal-e-Pakistan in 1989 and the Staufer Medal at the German consulate Karachi in 2015.

    Indian Govt launched national anthem video in sign language

    Union Minister of State for HRD (Human Resource Development) Mahendra Nath Pandey launched three-minute video of Indian National Anthem in sign language, featuring Bollywood actor Amitabh Bachchan along with physically challenged children with the Red Fort in the background.     Odisha govt and Facebook launches She Means Business programme for women entrepreneurs

    Odisha Chief minister Naveen Patnaik launched Facebook's programme named 'She Means Business' for women entrepreneurs in Odisha. This programme was launched in partnership with Odisha’s MSME (micro, small and medium enterprises) department and Project Mission Shakti. Under this programme, around 25,000 women entrepreneurs and Self-Help Group (SHG) members will get trained on digital marketing (online bussiness) skills within next one year.

    Oldest man in the World Yisrael Kristal aged died in Israel

    World's oldest man, Holocaust survivor Yisrael Kristal (aged 113) who was recognised by Guinness World Records last year (on March 11, 2016) as the world's oldest living man, died in Israel. Mr Kristal was born in Poland on September 15, 1903 and later moved to Israel in 1950.
