Indian captain Virat Kolhi was named Wisden’s Leading Cricketer in the World for 2016.
Kohli amassed 1215 Test runs at a stupendous average of 75.93 last year.
Ten ODI appearances fetched him 739 runs at 92.37, while he scored 641 T20 International runs at 106.83.
Only six batsmen have ever scored more international runs in a calendar year than Kohli but none of them have come close to the Indian captain’s average.
“Virat Kohli, who features on the cover of the 2017 edition of the Wisden Cricketers’ Almanack, is also the Leading Cricketer in the World for 2016, an accolade put in place in 2003 when Ricky Ponting became the first honouree,” Wisden announced.
Kohli has already been declared Wisden India Almanack’s Cricketer of the Year for the second time in its 2017 edition.

Kings XI Punjab players visited a government school in Indore and inaugurated toilets as part of the Swachh Bharat campaign, ahead of the IPL.
South Africa's David Miller, pacer Varun Aaron and mentor Virender Sehwag were part of the contingent that visited the school. In this IPL, Holkar Stadium in Indore is also the home ground for Kings XI Punjab as three matches will be played in the city.

Tim Berners-Lee, the man credited with inventing the world wide web, has been honored with the 2016 Turing Award.
The award, which is often referred to as the Nobel Prize for the computing industry, is present annually by the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM) to an individual who made “major contributions of lasting importance to computing.” It is named in honor of British mathematician and scientist Alan Turing and backed by a $1 million prize courtesy of Google.
The award will presented to Berners-Lee, who is founder of the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) and the World Wide Web Foundation, at the ACM’s annual banquet in San Francisco on June 24.
Vint Cerf and Bob Kahn, known as ‘Fathers of the Internet’ for their creation of the TCP/IP protocol, are among previous recipients of the Turing Award, which was first awarded in 1966.
Foreign tourists visiting India on e-visa can now stay up to two months, instead of the earlier one month, and enjoy double-entry benefits while those coming for treatment can avail triple-entry facility.
Earlier, a tourist coming on e-visa could stay in India up to 30 days only.
Effective April 1, e-visa has been sub-divided into three categories — e-tourist visa, e-business visa and e-medical visa.
The window for application under e-visa scheme has been increased from 30 days to 120 days.
Besides, both business and medical visas will be granted within 48 hours of application upon urgent requests.
Film (F) visa:- A new category of visa — Film (F) visa has also been introduced with maximum duration of one-year with multiple entry facility.
Intern (I) Visa:- Another category of visa, titled Intern (I) Visa, has been rolled out for foreigners intending to pursue internship in India.

Lotte World Tower is a 123 floors building built on the banks of River Han in Seoul.
The landmark building boasts some record-setting amenities such as the world's highest swimming pool, world’s highest glass-bottomed observation deck, the world's fastest elevator taking visitors to the top in just one minute.
Lotte World Tower is the world's fifth-tallest building after the Burj Khalifa in Dubai, the Shanghai Tower, Makkah Royal Clock Tower Hotel in Saudi Arabia and One World Trade Center in New York.
The building, developed by Lotte Engineering and Construction, cost about $3.6 billion to build and was designed by Kohn Pedersen Fox. Leslie E. Robertson Associates was the structural engineer for the project.

Malala Yousafzai (19-year-old activist), the youngest Nobel Prize laureate, will on April 12 address Canada’s parliament and officially receive the honorary Canadian citizenship bestowed upon her in 2014.
Malala was targeted by Taliban militants after she became an outspoken advocate for the right of girls to learn and to attend school. She has since become an international spokesperson for girls’ education and the rights of women and girls. In recognition of this work, she was named a co-recipient of the 2014 Nobel Peace Prize along with Indian activist Kailash Satyarthi.
The House of Commons in October 2014 unanimously supported bestowing honorary Canadian citizenship upon Yousafzai to recognise her bravery in the fight for the rights of women and girls.
Yousafzai is one of just six people to receive honorary Canadian citizenship. The others are Raoul Wallenberg, Nelson Mandela, the 14th Dalai Lama, Aung San Suu Kyi, and the Aga Khan.

More than six years after it was approved by the UPA government, the Centre has constituted 'National Board for Electric Mobility' (NBEM) to promote electric mobility and manufacturing of electric (& hybrid) vehicles and their components.
The Union Cabinet chaired by former Prime Minister Minister Manmohan Singh had on March 31, 2011 cleared the proposals for launch of the National Mission for Electric Mobility and setting up of a National Board for Electric Mobility (NBEM) and National Council for Electric Mobility.
FUNCTIONS OF NBEM:- 1) The NBEM will coordinate and resolve difference of opinion, if any, among various ministries. It will examine, recommend, monitor and review electric mobility related R&D projects and pilot projects and also evaluate and propose business models for popularising electric mobility.
2) It will formulate strategies and give directions to the various ministries and other stakeholders for implementing the decisions of the National Council for Electric Mobility.
About NBEM:- The NBEM, to be chaired by the Secretary of Department of Heavy Industry.
Members: senior bureaucrats as members, including secretaries in the Department of Economic Affairs, Department of Revenue, Ministry of Power, Ministry of Road Transport & Highways, Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas, among others.
It will also have six nominated members of eminence and expertise from the automobile industry, academia and research & development. These include

Ecuador elected Lenin Moreno as the country's new president, according to the CNE (National Electoral Council) electoral agency.
Renowned disability activist and former vice president Lenin Moreno of President Rafael Correa's governing Alianza Pais party got 99.65 percent of the votes counted.
Moreno and his vice president Jorge Glass won with 5,057,149 votes or 51.16 percent over former banker Guillermo Lasso and his vice president Andres Paez, of the right-wing CREO-SUMA alliance, who secured 4,827,753 votes and 48.84 percent.

Sporting minnows India has been ranked third for the third year in a row in a doping violation report published by World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) for 2015 with 117 athletes from the country being punished after testing positive for banned substances.
India followed Russian Federation (176) and Italy (129) at third spot in the doping violation chart released by the WADA, the same position as in the reports of 2013 and 2014.
This is the first set of Anti-Doping Rule Violation statistics under the revised WADA Code and third such report in its history since 2013.
The worrying sign for India is that the number of dope offenders has been increasing in the last three years. India had 91 and 96 Anti-doping Rule Violations (ADRVs) in 2013 and 2014 respectively.

Serbian Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic has won a clear victory in the country's presidential election.
He won about 55%, well above the threshold to avoid a run-off, with most results counted.
His closest challenger, Sasa Jankovic, polled 16%, while satirical candidate Ljubisa Preletacevic came third with 9% of the vote.
He became prime minister after his pro-EU nationalist Progressive Party won a landslide victory in early parliamentary elections in 2014.
