The International Road Federation (IRF) informed that India is set to host the 18th World Road Meeting (WRM 2017) on November 13. The theme of 2017 is 'Safe Roads and Smart Mobility : The Engines of Economic Growth'. The WRM, the biggest global platform for road engineers, safety and transport experts and companies engaged in road safety products, will be attended by over 4,000 delegates from across the world.

Israel's Sharia Courts appointed Arab-Israeli lawmaker, Hana Mansour-Khatib as their first-ever female judge." Hana Khatib, an attorney from the northern town of Tamra, selected by an Israeli justice committee alongside three men to become a religious judge.  Two women serve as sharia judges in the neighboring Palestinian Authority. Khatib will be sworn in by Israeli President Reuven Rivlin in a few weeks.

India and Armenia have signed three agreements after Vice President Hamid Ansari held a bilateral meeting with Armenian Prime Minister Karen Karapetyan in Yerevan, Armenia. The Three agreements are ; i) The two countries signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on peaceful uses of outer space, ii) Another MoU on cooperation in youth matters  iii) Program of cultural cooperation for the years 2017-2020. The International conference on “Dara Shikoh - Reclaiming Spiritual Legacy of India will be held on April 27 and 28. The conference will be organised by the Indian Council Of Cultural Relations (ICCR). International Chernobyl Disaster Remembrance Day observed on April 26, 2017. On December 8 2016, the United Nations General Assembly adopted a resolution designating April 26 as International Chernobyl Disaster Remembrance Day. An explosion at the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant in 1986 spread a radioactive cloud over large parts of the Soviet Union Federation. Nearly 8.4 million people in the Belarus, Ukraine and Russia countries were exposed to the radiation.

The White House has named a retired Marine major general Randolph Ailes as the new Director of the Secret Service. Ailes was in the Marine Corps for 35 years. He has been the acting deputy commissioner of Customs and Border Protection and previously oversaw the agency's air and marine division. Ailes is replacing Joseph Clancy, who retired from the agency. The government of Kazakhstan has appointed the Chairman of Kirtilals Jewellers Suraj Shantakumar as its Honorary Consul for the southern states i.e Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, and Kerala. Kazakhstan's Ambassador to India Bulat Sarsenbayev noted the symbolism of holding the event in the year marking the 25th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries. Chief Guest of the function is national vice president of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Shyam Jaju.

Microsoft Co-founder and the world's richest person, Bill Gates has praised PM Narendra Modi for the Swachh Bharat Mission.  Bill Gates specifically mentioned the mission's aim of building 75 million toilets across India, and at present 30% of India's villages are now open defecation free. Clean India started with 42 percent of Indians but today it achieved more than 60% succesfully.  The Government has a detailed plan to finish the job by October 2, 2019, the 150th anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi’s birth.

A gigantic Tunnel Boring Machine is being used to build a underwater tunnel in the river Hooghly which connect Howrah with Kolkata. The construction will be completed by July. The two 520 metre structures are part of 10.8 km underground stretch and are crucial to the East West Metro project. They are being built at a cost of Rs 8900 crores.

Life Insurance Corporation of India ( LIC) has introduced two endowment assurance plans for individuals having Aadhaar card. Aadhaar Shila is a plan exclusively designed for women, Aadhaar Stambh is meant for men. These plans offer a combination of protection and savings and also provide a lump sum amount in case of death of the policyholder to the person's family.  Total basic sum assured under all policies issued to an individual under this plan shall not exceed Rs 3 lakh.This plan is available to standard healthy lives from age 8-55 years, without any medical examination. The maximum age of maturity is 70 years.
