    World Bank to give cr for National Waterway on Ganga

    The World Bank has approved a loan of $375 million for capacity augmentation of National Waterway-1 (NW-1) on the river Ganga under the Jal Marg Vikas Project (JMVP).  The  financial assistance from the World Bank would help to develop the Rs 5,369-crore NW-1 from Haldia to Varanasi.     RBI announces India s Financial Literacy Week from June

    April 22, 2017
    RBI has decided to observe the week June 5-9, 2017 as Financial Literacy Week across the country. The literacy week will focus on four broad themes, viz. KYC, Exercising Credit Discipline, Grievance Redressal and Going Digital (UPI and *99#). An online quiz will be hosted for the general public on the four broad themes to generate interest/awareness about financial literacy. Banks are advised to conduct special camps on each of the five days in backward/unbanked areas.

    Senior National Conference (NC) leader and former speaker of Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly, Ali Mohammad Naik, passed away. He was 87. Naik, a resident of Tral in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district, was suffering from chest disease .     The Indian Railways will increase 3AC coaches in long distance trains to cater to the growing demand for air-conditioned coaches.     Uttar Pradesh to establish Yoga wellness centres

     Uttar Pradesh government has decided to set up 40 Yoga wellness centres in 40 districts during current financial year.     China to host BRICS Film Festival in June

    The 2017 BRICS Film Festival will be held in Chengdu, southwest China’s Sichuan Province from June 23 to 27.BRICS is an association of Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa. There will be 30 films from BRICS countries screened during the festival, including an anthology by five directors from the aforementioned countries.
