Uber Partners with Election Commission in Tamil Nadu to spread awareness
27 April 2016 Current Affairs: Taxi operator Uber has partnered with Election Commission in Tamil Nadu to spread awareness on voting among the electorate for the May 16 assembly polls. Uber held discussions with officials on the importance of voting and encouraging people to cast their vote and would collaborate with EC's Systematic Voters' Education and Electoral Participation programme

Drivers of Uber cabs would be educating public on the importance of voting and encourage riders to vote on May 16. We are thrilled to partner with the Election Commission and support the #TN100percent initiative, Uber India, General Manager.

Uber : Uber Technologies Inc. is an American multinational online transportation network company headquartered in San Francisco, California. It develops, markets and operates the Uber mobile app, which allows consumers with smartphones to submit a trip request which is then routed to Uber drivers who use their own cars. As of April 12, 2016, the service was available in over 60 countries and 404 cities worldwide.Since Uber's launch, several other companies have copied its business model, a trend that has come to be referred to as Uberification.
