Soyuz crew survives emergency landing

The Soyuz rocket made a successful emergency landing after an engine problem on lift-off to the International Space Station (ISS). The two-man crew, astronaut Nick Hague and Russian cosmonaut Aleksey Ovchinin, survived.

The rocket was launched was from the Baikonur cosmodrome in Kazakhstan at 0840 GMT. The rocket had a problem with the booster while launching. A few seconds after the first stage of separation after the crew has started to go into ballistic descent mode. The failure is a major setback for the Russian Space Industry.
