South Sudan rebel chief Riek Machar sworn in as vice-president
27 April 2016 Current Affairs: South Sudanese rebel leader Riek Machar has been sworn in as vice-president. His appointment is seen as a step towards ending a conflict that has killed tens of thousands. He was welcomed by President Salva Kiir ahead of forming a unity government. 

About 2.3 million South Sudanese have been driven from their homes since war erupted in December 2013, plunging the country into a humanitarian crisis.Now the unity government will have to prepare roadmap for repairing it's economy that is near the point of collapse.
