Shane Lowry claimed the British Open 2019 at Royal Portrush, Northern Ireland

23 July 2019 Current Affairs:Irishman Shane Lowry claimed the British Open 2019 at Royal Portrush, Northern Ireland. It is his first major golfing title. He defeated Tommy Fleetwood and won the title. He is the second player from the country to claim the title. Earlier, the title was claimed by Padraig Harrington in 2007 and 2008.
He won USD1,935,000 which takes him to No.1 on the European Tour’s Race to Dubai.

British Open 2019:
British Open 2019 Championship is the 148th Open Championship. Events were held from 18-21 July at Royal Portrush Golf Club in Northern Ireland. This was the second time the country was hosting as it has hosted for the first time in 1951.
