Russia, Turkey and Iran Sign Deal on Safe Zones in Syria
05 May 2017 Current Affairs:

  • Turkey, Iran and Russia signed an agreement to set up of four "de-confliction zones" in Syria - the latest attempt to reduce violence in the country.

  • The major objective of the memorandum is to stop the violence and facilitate conditions for the safe, voluntary return of refugees as well as to provide rapid and uninterrupted delivery of relief supplies and medical aid.

  • The Syrian conflict is six years old. It has been estimated that more than 320,000 people have been killed in Syria.
