According to state election officials, the Freedom Movement received over 34% of the vote, compared to around 24% for the ruling conservative Slovenian Democratic Party.
The New Slovenia party received 7% of the vote, followed by the Social Democrats, who received more than 6%, and the Left Party, which received only 4%.
The 55-year-old former power company executive has promised to bring "normalcy" back to the country, calling the polls a "referendum on democracy."
