Rajasthan becomes first state to introduce minimum wages for part time workers

06 July 2016 Current Affairs: Rajasthan has become the first state in the country to introduce minimum wages for part-time workers. In this regards, the Labour Department of Rajasthan government has issued a notification.
According to the notification, it is now mandatory to pay 50 per cent of the prescribed a day minimum wage to a person who works for less than four hours in a day.
With this notification, part-time workers now come under the Minimum Wages Act 1948.
In another decision, the state government has increased minimum wages in all categories of scheduled employments by Rs 104 per month.
