Prime Minister Narendra Modi announces Rs2,350-crore flood relief for North-East
02 August 2017 Current Affairs: Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced a package of Rs2,350 crores for all North-East states for mitigating the impact of floods on short- and long-term basis.

On addition, he arranged a Rs100 crore corpus for setting up a research project to study the Brahmaputra and its role in creating a devastating flood.

The seven sisters states of India are Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Manipur, Mizoram, Nagaland, and Tripura in northeastern India.
