Odisha CM launches DBT scheme for farmers
10 May 2016 Current Affairs: Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has launched a 'Direct Benefit Transfer' scheme for the state's farmers  and pledged digging of at least one lakh bore wells to improve irrigation facilities on May 9,2016.

The farmers can now get themselves registered online to purchase seeds and get the subsidy amount in their bank account directly under the scheme.

he first beneficiary of the DBT scheme was Ramesh Rout of Laxminarayanpur area. The seeds subsidy amount was deposited in Rout’s bank account.

Union Agriculture Minister Radha Mohan Singh also ploughed a field at Kandarpur in Cuttack district to observe Akshaya Tritiya in the presence of Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Dharmendra Pradhan and state BJP president Basant Panda.
