Odia Filmmaker Manmohan Mohapatra passed away

14 January 2020 Current Affairs:Odia Filmmaker Manmohan Mohapatra passed away on 13 January in Bhubaneswar, Odisha. He died due to the prolonged illness. He was 69-years-old. 

Manmohan Mohapatra:
Mohapatra was born in 1951. He studied filmmaking at the Film and Television Institute of India (FTII) in Pune. He made his first short film 'Anti-Memoirs' in 1975. In 1976, his first film 'Sita Rati' won him the National Film Award for Best Feature Film in Odia. Mohapatra directed a few Hindi films including Bits and Pieces. The veteran filmmaker directed documentaries namely Voices of Silence and Konark: The Sun Temple. 
Awards:
He had won eight consecutive National Awards for his films Sita Rati, Majhi Pahacha, Nisiddha Swapna, Klanta Aparanha, Niraba Jhada, Bhinna Samaya. His work Niraba Jhada won a National Award. Mohapatra received the Best Director Award for Odia film Bhija Matira Swarga recently.
