New Species Of Rainfrog Named After Greta Thunberg

• The frog was discovered in 2012 and was thought to be a member of the already classified Pristimantis family. 
• According to the scientific journal Zookeys, recent DNA analysis confirmed that the frog is a new species.
• An international group of biologists led by doctors Abel Batista of Panama and Konrad Mebert of Switzerland discovered the new specimen of the tropical amphibian in Cerro Chucant, a private reserve in the province of Darién.
•  It was named after Greta Thunberg after the conservation nonprofit The Rainforest Trust held an auction in which the winner was given the opportunity to name new species. 
• The frog was discovered at a reserve set up by the conservation organization AdoptaBosque with the help of Rainforest Trust.
