Narayanasamy to become new Chief Minister of Puducherry
30 May 2016 Current Affairs: Senior Congress leader and former Union Minister V Narayanasamy was unanimously elected Legislature Party leader and is all is set to become the tenth Chief Minister of Puducherry on 28 May 2016. 

Party Senior leader and former Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dixit and AICC General Secretary Mukul Wasnik, who were deputed by the Congress high command to hold consultations in this regard, told reporters at the end of the meeting that Narayanasamy's choice was unanimous.

All party elected legislators agreed that Narayanasamy should be made the Chief Minister and elected him the CLP leader.

Narayanasamy had served as the Minister of State in the Prime Minister's Office in the second UPA government, after being MoS, Parliamentary Affairs, in the first UPA government. 

There was a close race between him and Namassivayam who won in the assembly polls retaining Villianoor constituency.In the assembly polls, Congress won 15 seats while its ally DMK bagged 2 in the 30-member-assembly. 

Narayanasamy  : V. Narayanasamy is  a politician from Indian National Congress party. He is designated Chief Minister of Puducherry. He is a former Member of the Parliament of India who represented Puducherry constituency. In the 2014 general elections, he was defeated by the NDA candidate R.Radhakrishnan who was backed by the ruling All India N.R. Congress. He is a member of the Congress Working Committee as well as All India Congress Committee's General Secretary.
