MoU on IMPRINT programme signed by 25 Ministries
02 April 2016 Current Affairs: A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed by 25 Union Ministries of the Government of India under the IMPRINT (IMPacting Research INnovation and Technology) programme of the Union Government to promote research in premiere technical institutions on March 31, 2016. The MoU signed included the Union Ministry of HRD, Union Ministry of Finance, Union Ministry of Rural development, Union Ministry of Power, Coal, New and Renewable energy, Union ministry of communication and IT. The Union Human Resource and Development Minister presided over the function to sign the MoU. The Minister announced that there was no sustainability in the technology related work as it was totally dependent on the funds released by Ministry of HRD.As per the programme IMPRINT the research institutes will be able to take the technology developed and the research to the public through various ministries of the Union Government. All the Ministers assured their full cooperation and support in taking forward the research work under 10 technology domains as envisaged under IMPRINT to achieve overall development of the country .
