‘Lady Singham’ Manzil Saini becomes first woman SSP of Lucknow
18 May 2016 Current Affairs: Uttar Pradesh government, appointed Manzil Saini as the new Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) of state capital Lucknow.Manzil Saini is popularly known as 'Lady Singham'.

Before cracking the Civil Services examinations, Saini had, for three years, worked at a private firm.She is married to a businessman and had cleared the Civil Services exam in the first attempt.A 2005 batch officer, she is the first woman officer in the history  of the state to take charge of Lucknow.

She was earlier posted in Etawah, the hometown of Samajwadi Party supremo Mulayam Singh Yadav.Saini was expecting a baby when she cracked the Civil Services examinations to become the country's first married woman IPS officer.Saini has replaced Rajesh Pandey who has been attached to the DGP office.
