Jitu Rai finishes sixth at shooting World Cup
23 April 2016 Current Affairs: Pistol ace Jitu Rai of India finished sixth in the men’s 50m pistol event on day five of the lnternational Shooting Sport Federation (ISSF) World Cup.Jitu, who is the world number one in the event, qualified for the finals in fourth position shooting a score of 563 at the Olympic Shooting Centre. He began the finals on the back foot registering two shots of 8 each to start with. 

He seemed to regain composure with three consecutive shots of 10 after that, but a 7.9 in his ninth shot and 8.7in his 10th put paid to all hopes of a medal and he was eliminated after the 12th shot to claim the sixth place. The International Shooting Sport Federation, also known with the acronym ISSF, is the governing body of the Olympic Shooting events in Rifle, Pistol and Shotgun disciplines, and of several non-Olympic Shooting sport events.
