Israel appointed Hanna Hatib as first female judge in its Muslim sharia court system
26 April 2017 Current Affairs:

  • Israel's Sharia Courts appointed Arab-Israeli lawmaker, Hana Mansour-Khatib as their first-ever female judge."

  • Hana Khatib, an attorney from the northern town of Tamra, selected by an Israeli justice committee alongside three men to become a religious judge.

  •  Two women serve as sharia judges in the neighboring Palestinian Authority. Khatib will be sworn in by Israeli President Reuven Rivlin in a few weeks.
