Indian Philanthropist Firoz Merchant honoured by UAE Government
08 August 2017 Current Affairs: Firoz Merchant, an Indian businessman in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) spent over USD 4 million to help free prisoners languishing in jails due to non-payment of debts honored with UAE’s prestigious Community Service Medal.

The award is given in the form of a medal in recognition of his efforts to serve the community in the country.

UAE Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior of the UAE, Lt General HH Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, honored Indian businessman and philanthropist Firoz Merchant with the Community Service Medal.
