India, UK to set up 240 mn pound fund for green energy

07 April 2017 Current Affairs: Adding to the kitty of Rs 40,000 crore, National Infrastructure and Investment Fund (NIIF), India and the UK agreed to set up £240 million (approximately Rs 2,000 crore) fund to finance green energy.
The fund will help boost India’s rapidly growing energy sector. Both countries will contribute £120 millioneach to the fund.
The fund ultimately aims at raising £500 million.
The Green Growth Equity Fund will be a sub-fund of NIIF.
