India successfully test-fires Agni III missile
27 April 2017 Current Affairs:

  • India successfully test-fired 3000 kilometre Agni-III  ballistic missile from Abdul Kalam Island off the Odisha coast.

  • The test was carried out by the strategic Forces command with logistics support from Defence Research Development Organisation (DRDO).

  • The missile is powered by a two-stage solid propellant engine carrying both conventional and nuclear warheads weighing up to 1.5 tonnes.

  • Agni first trial was carried out on September 21,2012.
