Former French Culture Minister Audrey Azoulay elected as the new Director General of UNESCO
15 October 2017 Current Affairs: Former French Culture Minister Audrey Azoulay was elected as the new Director-General of UNESCO (United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization).

Azoulay succeeds outgoing Director-General Irina Bokova of Bulgaria, whose eight-year term was marred by financial woes and criticism over Palestine’s inclusion as a member.
