First 3D Printed House of India at IIT

30 April 2021 Current Affairs:The Finance Minister Smt Nirmala Sitaraman inaugurated the first 3D printed HouseHouse at IIT Madras.

Highlights:
♦ The HouseHouse was once constructed using indigenous 3D printing technology. It used to be built in just five days. It was constructed via TVASTA Manufacturing options based on a thought via former IIT-M students.
3D printing is a system of making three-dimensional objects via digital instructions. It is additionally called Additive manufacturing. It is the opposite of Subtractive Manufacturing. Subtractive manufacturing is slicing away from a giant material.
♦ The Global market of 3D printing is predicted to reach 34.8 billion USD by using 2024.
♦ In 2020, the Electronics & Information Technology Ministry launched the National Strategy for Additive Manufacturing.
♦ India holds only 1.4% of the world market share in Additive Manufacturing. Within the ASEAN grouping, Thailand, Singapore and Malaysia account for about 80% of the Additive Manufacturing market.
♦ National Strategy for Additive Manufacturing: The key aim is to make India as a global hub for additive manufacturing. This will address the following difficulties in 3D printing in India: Data Formats, Fabrication speed, the Surface finish of contoured surfaces, Lack of Additive manufacturing Standards
♦ In the construction sector, this takes a lot of hard work to create a detailed, handmade and scaled product. With 3D printing, the venture will become simpler, mainly when complicated geometries are involved. It can render designated fashions in terms of colouration and a variety of materials.
